Great tool if your good with tools
This thing will remove old paint and some rust scale fast and reliably. But you need to know how to use it and use it within its capabilities. Incidentally, I do not recommend using this on wood. I read critical reviews that said it did not take off paint and that parts flew off of it. Well, true! But again did they really know what they were doing? I have worn out three of these and i will keep getting them. First you need need to understand it does not work like sand paper. Only the tips of the little steel fingers actually do any work. When you use this device you do not need to add pressure. You only need to touch the little steel fingers to the work and watch the paint fly off the part. If you apply more pressure the sides of the little fingers contact the work instead of the tips and then you don't get results. In addition, applying more pressure also may cause small dents in your work surface. Because they are acting like little hammers you will get some surface damage, but if you use a lite touch It will be minimal. This will also work best on old paint that will chip. If you try to use this on new paint that still has elasticity that may not work as well. And if you try to use this on wood. You will probably cause considerable damage to the surface and need to either sand the wood, or run it through a planer to get rid of the damage. And now let's talk about safety. Remember these little steel fingers are flying around a very high rate of speed and taking an incredible amount abuse by banging on steel parts. Like wire wheels, eventually parts are going to fly off and go across the room. People who use wire wheels at him high-speed know that you need to have your eyes covered, probably a full face covering, and wear long-sleeved shirts. You really don't need a 2 inch steel needle stuck in the side of your face. And yes, that is possible. That is why I say it's necessary to know what you're doing because all of the tools in a workshop are very dangerous in the hands of people who don't know what they're doing. After 30 minutes using a standard high-speed wire wheel I usually have eight or nine small pieces of wire stuck in my shirt and my Levi's. I've never had one of the metal fingers off one of these wheels stuck in any part of me, but I have found them all over the workshop. As far as durability. I used one of these, attached to a variable speed corded drill motor, to strip the paint off a 16 foot boat trailer. At the end of this project. I was missing two of the little steel fingers off the unit, but all of the paint had been removed everywhere that this thing could get into. I unequivocally recommend this to anybody who is stripping old paint off primarily metal surfaces. If you are not used to using professional tools, and if you do not have all the proper protective equipment, I think it's safe to say this is not going to be the tool for you. But then if you're that guy you probably should be hiring somebody to do the work for you anyway.

The damn thing just works!
This thing is old school. Simple, aggressive, it works. Be careful, it can destroy whatever you are working on. A lot of finesse is called for.

Great Performance as Always
These RotoStrippers are getting a little tough to find, so I am hopeful that the Manufacturer/Distributor will keep these on the market going forward. This model "CG" is the course removal grade, and that it does! This is not for fine/delicate surface preparation but for fantastic material removal from robust surfaces with serious paint or other difficult-to-remove media removal. I used this on the exterior of our mountain log cabin that is painted to remove loose paint, broken chinking, etc. from the log surface, and it is excellent for that job. I recommend eye protection and even a face shield when using this tool because when the tines decide to go, they fly off with plenty of energy to cause an injury, especially to the face. Now, it takes a lot of effort to get the tines to wear to the point where they will separate, but when they do, you want at least your eyes protected. If you need to remove a lot of paint, rust, or whatever is stuck on a surface that can handle the aggressive action the RotoStripper doles out, then this is a great tool! Enjoy!

deck stripping
My indoor three season deck had cheap carpet glued to it. I pulled off the old carpet. This coarse Roto Stripper worked well to remove most of the glue and paint, but the process was somewhat time consuming and created much dusts. There were thick glue patches which required extra scrapping using a conventional paint scraper. Roto Stripper does take some wood off the deck surface. This device is very loud when scrapping against the wood deck. Earplug is highly recommended. I will also need to belt-sand the deck surface afterwards. I heard this type of stripper is not being sold in major hardware stores because the wires could potentially break off, shoot out like darts and cause severe harm. Be careful.

Find something else.
Junk, after 10 minutes the head started spinning on the shaft , rendering it useless because it stops spinning the wires around as soon as you start using it. But, it was effective for the 10 minutes.

What a time saver and so much easier than scrapping by hand! LOVE IT!!!
Here's a paint 'scraper' that has saved me so much time on project! Literally hours and so much easier than scraping by hand!! I happened across it in a 'junk box' a friend left here and didn't really know what it was but for some reason I put it in my drill and tried it on my cedar siding I've been staining ... The siding had a type of moss.. smaller light green scale type stuff... in some places so think it just about covered places close to 100%! I put it in my cordless drill and it took it right off quite easily!! I did wind up wearing it out and had no idea where I could ever find another one.... I didn't even know if it was a paint stripper.. Hmmmmmm.... Amazon... I did a search for "Drill Paint Stripper" and in less than a minute I found this and the $25 price tag didn't even phase me!! I was surprised that it was designed for metal and doing some reading and reviews I found out why mine finally wore out... DON'T USE AT HIGHER RPMS!! The wires were flying off and the more that came off the more I increased my rpms.. and it wasn't long and it was totally shot! And it's a bit dangerous too! Definitely should use safety googles! And I just compared it with my old one and the new one looks a lot sturdier and the wires are twice as heavy!!!
