Wireless and USB Document Camera
When we were sent home from the school building in March I wanted to be able to continue showing my Kindergarten students how to do things. I use my document camera daily in the classroom. I saw that this had a wireless option and jumped at the chance to get it for my home and use it to continue teaching my K babies.Connecting wirelessly requires that you disconnect from your wifi in order to use the camera. When filming video lessons this was okay. I would film them and save them to my laptop. I would later upload them to my Google Drive or YouTube to share with my students. I was unable to be connected to wifi and my document camera at the same time. That means, I was unable to use it during my Zoom meetings.I made various videos of me reading stories to my Kinders. The videos came out clear. My voice did as well. I used the time lapse feature and was able to capture a few of our butterflies emerging from their cocoon. The students enjoyed those videos as well. This was done connected wirelessly to the document camera and unfortunately not to my wifi. This meant that I could not create a live stream.I attempted to connect the VZ-X to my laptop but had no luck. I used the HDMI to USB connection for that. I attempt to connect the VZ-X to my television using HDMI to HDMI but that did not work. (That might have been user error on my part.) Finally today, with the first day of school for students approaching, I wanted to try one more time. And I succeeded! In order to connect my VZ-X to my laptop, I need to use the mini USB port (that you use to charge it) and the USB port on my laptop. This makes me extremely happy and I will now be able to use the camera while connected to wifi.

Great product AND customer service!
When I left a message for Ipevo about an issue I was having, I thought I'd never get a response back, but within 2 hours I had a response. Great customer service!!!I was able to solve the problem myself, it wasn't the Ipevo doc camera at all. I'm using this with Zoom and didn't realize that Zoom settings automatically have the mirror option selected. I found the problem and changed it about 15 minutes before I went "live."I'm using my Ipevo VZ-X doc camera to teach online music lessons (piano & voice) and it's working superbly. I can use it as the webcam, demonstrate at the piano, write on my music white board, display printed sheet music for discussion, etc.Last week I used my tablet and hated it. By the time the week ended, after 25 years of teaching and loving it, I wanted to quit! But after receiving the Ipevo and getting it set up, plus using a headset + mic, I'm having a blast again!Thank you for such an excellent product and customer service.

Wireless, unless . . .
As a college instructor caught in the COVID whirlwind last March and with in-person classes abruptly eliminated, I needed a document camera within a few days. It seemed that most of the less expensive models were already sold out everywhere, with new inventory expected weeks away. Although I didn’t need wireless connectivity and rechargeable battery power, I opted for this model, which was one of those available at the time. (And since the school was paying for it, I wasn’t too averse to the price.)In its favor, the image quality is good, as long as the subject (your hand, for example) isn’t moving too fast. The associated software, IPEVO Visualizer (downloaded from the company's website), works well, although things are less frustrating if the camera is connected and powered up before the program is launched.Although the on-line Quick Start Guide indicates that a computer USB connection cannot provide enough power to charge the camera batteries, mine had no problem doing so.Gripes:(1) You cannot use this device wirelessly (2.4 GHz Wi-Fi) if you are using a wireless connection for your computer Internet. Because I didn’t buy the unit for this function, this wasn’t a major issue for me, but I expect it could be a deal killer for others. (This matter appears as the first question in the Q&A portion of the company's website.)(2) Autofocus sometimes doesn’t. Occasionally, I have had to press the focus button to set things right.(3) In a darkened room, it is difficult to see the tiny nomenclature on the side of the unit. I typically mix up the “LIGHT” and “FOCUS” buttons, which are at the top and bottom of the panel.(4) Despite its cost, there was no manual or any kind of start-up guide included in the packaging, requiring me to find that information on the Web. I call that cheap. (This reminds me of when I bought a pricey new car and discovered the gas tank was virtually empty when the car died for lack of fuel literally only a few blocks from the dealership.)If I had to do it again, I’d probably buy the same camera. Of course, if the lesser models were in stock, I would go that route, as this one comes at a $100 (or so) premium for a feature I don’t use and could not use even if I wanted to.

Essential resource
This was the best purchase made for the continuation of classroom lessons online. It allowed me to make a smooth transition to remote learning. Kids commented it was even better than the one we use at school. I highly recommend spending the extra money for the wireless function. I was able to bring lessons outside and I enjoyed not having to worry about cords and limitations. I was so happy with the size and very compact storage. If you do not have an adapter for plugging in a USB to your MacBook, get an adapter! You will be so happy! I plan to use the IPEVO in my class as a mobile small group. It fits my flexible seating and combo class structure perfectly.
