HOT PEPPERS: When Wilbur Scoville first devised a means to test the heat of peppers, his hottest entry then came in at 20,000 units. Habanero and Thai chilies can go as high as 60,000. Compare that to the sweet bell pepper at zero. When hot peppers are consumed, capsaicinoids bind with pain receptors in the mouth and throat that are responsible for sensing heat. Once activated by the capsaicinoids, these receptors send a message to the brain that the person has consumed something hot. The brain responds to the burning sensation by raising the heart rate, increasing perspiration and release of endorphins. Hot peppers should be eaten with caution!Cayenne Red Long Pepper: Hot and very prolific. Cayenne has thin 5-6 long pointed and wrinkled dark green fruit that matures to a deep red. Excellent fresh, in sauces, and easy to dry to be ground to a powder for a spicy-hot condiment. Each plant provides a bountiful harvest.

Excellent germination rate, good activity.
I think most of the seeds I planted are growing. And they're actually growing pretty well. Not sure about harvesting yet, as I haven't reached that stage yet, but I'll update this review accordingly. Not sure if this is the right forum to write this, but I planted half the seeds first with non-azomite-enriched soil, and the remaining once I received my azomite delivery. The second batch was cared for in the same way otherwise...same soil, area in yard (for sun exposure purposes), watering....and the second batch (azomite-enriched) is doing noticeably outperforming the first. They're BOTH growing, and BOTH doing pretty well, but the second batch is just better...so....use azomite! =D

Mix of varieties. Not red cayenne.
Germination was very good but these are not all red cayennes. Only one plant appears to be red cayennes and the rest appear to be a mix of black pearl, black Hungarian and/or black cobra peppers. Interesting but disappointed. Actually, the plant I thought was red cayenne, starting out green, has now turned black. The rest started out black.

Fast shipping good instructions.
This item came early and it included good planting instructions. Hopefully I will grow good plants with a bumper crop.

Fast germination
I planted about 10 seeds once I got the package and of those 10 only 5 germinated. While 50% germination is rather poor, it's okay in this case since there were 100 seeds in the pack and I didn't need a lot of plants. So it's a good germination rate for the price listed.

My seeds shipped from China. Not quite sure how I feel about that. I don't think I even want to plant these.
