Essential cookbook...
These cookbooks are fun!! My 6 year old niece loves spending time in the kitchen and we have had good luck with the other Disney cookbooks that are very similar (I believe they are the same company) to this. Princess and the Frog is one of my favorites and who doesn't love Cajun cook, so with all that being said, I bought this for our camp kitchen. And once again, we are so happy with this cookbook!!Yes, the food comes out very well and is delicious. No, this is not a gourmet cookbook that is going to be your go to for fancy Saturday night dinner parties. This is a novelty cookbook for adults and a must have for Disney fans with kids in their lives. Recipes are easy to follow and all of the ingredients are readily available at any grocery store. All of the pictures are wonderful and EVERY character from the movie is included, which is super cute. I adore these books and I am particularly partial to this one as it's one of my favorite Disney films. Not to mention, the story lends itself so well to have a cookbook that goes along with it.

Great Southern Cookbook for Young and Young at Heart.
So, I was suppose to give this as a gift to my niece at her 4th birthday Princess Tiana party (I know... bad Auntie)... but I fell in love with it and decided to keep it to cook from when she comes over. I felt a little guilty because she loves to cook; but I would have been upset if I went over to find it colored in with pages torn like some of her other books (she's still learning to take care of her things.)Instead, I got us adorable matching little and big aprons from Flirty Apron's amazon site (such cute designs and good quality) and we've made just about all the recipes. Needless to say she LOVED the book at first sight. The illustrations are beautiful and she enjoys flipping through the pages.I do some catering and baking for small parties and I can attest that the recipes are real yet simple, not watered down too much and so far I've enjoyed them all with only some minor adjustments for personal taste. She's still a little too young to appreciate things like Gumbo, but she did try it and ate most of it. To me that just means there's room to grow. She really liked the other things we made especially the Po Boys and Beignets. (we made bread for the Po Boys from scratch in the bread machine.) If you're looking for a good "kids cookbook" and/or are a Tiana fan. You'll love this book!

Perfect for Kids Who Cook and Fans of the Movie
I love that this cookbook exists, first of all - it's genius. With Tiana so focused on opening her restaurant throughout the movie, I kept craving New Orleans cuisine. This book is EXACTLY what I wanted; it checked all the boxes. The illustrations look like they're straight from the film; my toddler loves looking at the pictures and naming the characters. Some recipes are classic Cajun recipes: gumbo, jambalaya, Southern style cornbread, etc. There are recipes for dishes named in the movie, like muffuletta, beignets, and red beans and rice (also classic Cajun). The recipes include wonderful photographs and are meant to be made alongside your child (especially helpful are the ratings next to each recipe indicating the difficulty level), so not only can we make recipes inspired by the movie, but we can make them together. This is perfect for kids and Disney lovers.

Gets them interested in cooking!
This cookbook does exactly what it's supposed to do! It gets kids interested in cooking. Plus they learn some other good stuff along the way.Photos of the prepared dishes are very visually appealing plus the overall design is very pretty. My 4 year-old daughter had memorized the recipe titles in short-order. She was very excited about us making Naveen's Green Beans (and eating them). I'd say that this book accomplished the following for my daughter (in no particular order):1) Got her interested in preparing food2) Helped her understand the importance of following specific smaller tasks to accomplish a larger task3) Assisted her with math ("Please hand me the 1/2 measuring cup. It's smaller than 1 cup.")4) Gave her joy! She loved requesting a certain dish and then seeing the family enjoy the prepared food.Oh, and as others have stated, the food is TASTY!

Real tasty recipes!
I bought this for my daughter for her birthday. She wants to be a chef and open her own restaurant. She loves this book! She has already made Buford's Fish and the oven baked potato wedges for our dinner ( with adult supervision and guidance) The recipes are easy to follow. She has made the smoothie for her breakfast every day since getting this cookbook. I have been asked almost everyday if she can make dinner! She is going to make the Jambalaya and this recipe is very similar to mine. The recipes range from easy to complicated. It covers breakfast, lunch, dinner, sides, breads, drinks and desserts. Your child will love this book.

Great for kids of all ages
The cookbook relates to the movie, so if you see the movie you will enjoy this cookbook more than ever. The recipes vary from your simple banana french toast to an interesting "yumbo gumbo". The Louisiana flare is great. It has my 9 year old trying different types of food than what would be normally served in our home. And what's even better, she makes it. The book is illustrated beautifully with color pictures of the final product. The instructions are easy to follow, but the meal is anything but simple.
