The good:If you want to replace the shell of your SP, this is it. It came with a complete shell, buttons, contact pads for said buttons, a screen cover, sticker for the back and a Nintendo emblem for the top. My brother gave me his old sp which he used to carry in the same pocket as his keys. THE HORROR!...Now the sp is looking good as new thanks to this shell replacement.The bad:it does not come with a speaker, or the box depicted in the the image on amazon, I found that pretty dishonest and this is really the only reason why a star was lost.The plastic is not the same quality as what came from Nintendo, but you really shouldn't expect it to be. This is a third party "bootleg" of the real deal, and that said, the quality is as good as it could get. It has some rough edges that you might want to VERY finely sand down, but it should't be necessary. Mine came with a scratch or two, but they weren't too bad.Tips for installation:if this is your first time opening up the guts of an electronic device, just make sure you ground yourself, be careful with the ribbon cable, and take your time. The hinges which you must salvage from your old shell were a pain in the ass to put in the new one, and the online guides on youtube don't really say much than "pop them in" look closely at the grooves with a flashlight, and once you get them most of the way in, open/close the SP while pushing on the hinge until it goes all the way in. Make note of which hinge is left and right, otherwise you might put them in "backwards" like I did and have to redo this. You will know if you put them in right if the sp clicks and rests at it's natural "playing angle" if that makes sense.This install, and all electronic work, requires finesse and patience. Don't be one of those people who goes and leaves a one star review because you messed something up. use a guide on youtube, and you should be okay.

After a decade of wear, my SP was looking a little tired. I ordered a new shell, hoping to fix that. It was an easy process, and the refurbished device works like a charm. The shell is nice, but arrived prescratched. My Game Boy Advanced SP 101 was literally falling apart, so when I found this I immediately bought it. From what I can tell, it is a quality shell, although definitely made more cheaply than an actual Nintendo case. The hinges are not quite as good as the hinges out of a stock case, I would suggest using the ones out of your old handheld. There are slight differences, and the branding and logo are slightly off, but for an aftermarket case it is well made. I would suggest buying this if you are looking for a cheap fix, otherwise I would just go buy a refurbished model and spend the little bit of extra money.

I'm glad I didn't need to replace the screen because I would be pissed, it came all scratched up and foggy-like. There's no real instructions, unless you know Chinese. I recomend watching a YouTube tutorial, other than that, the shell I received was pretty nice... Like a matte black. You're gonna need a lot of time and patience.

Don't listen to all the negative reviews about this product! If your half way technically minded and can accurately follow the instructional videos on youtube, you will have NO problem changing the shell on your gameboy advance sp! I will admit installing the hinges and attaching the screen's ribbon cable to the motherboard can be a bit tricky but its not that hard and youd have to be pretty uncoordinated and/or unpatient to mess this up.Now about the product itself- Its not quite as nice as the original shell was but it still works very well, in fact, I doubt youd even tell the difference. It has more of a matte finish to it compared to the original, so its more scratch resistant. I have absolutely no complaints about it other than the replacement hinges arent quite as smooth as the original ones when opening and closing the screen. This is just a minor gripe that again most people wont even notice.It comes with a tri wing screwdriver and even a new speaker, geat deal if you ask me and it will make your advance SP look and feel new again! If anyone has any installation questions, just message me before you bomb this products reviews.

Did not come with a replacement speaker as advertised. I am a bit disappointed considering that the replacement speaker was the largest factor in my decision to buy, considering the one in my gameboy was and is still broken. Not sure if the seller is to blame, or the manufacturer, either way it was disappointing.

The plastic is definitely not the same level of quality as an OEM shell, but overall I thought is was pretty good, and I was able to make my banged up SP look pretty good again. Also for the price I can't really complain. Just as a note, you will have to use the hinge mechanism from your current shell (this kit does include the little caps that are visible however).

It arrived quickly which was great, however the pieces are very tiny and it took my son several hours to replace all the pieces on his console, but it works and looks brand new which is good.
