Works fine overseas as hotspot
This hotspot picks up 4G signals with GSM providers in Africa (buy 4G SIM for Orange, Airtel - typically <$5 plus $20-$30 for 1 month prepaid data plan). Have it to avoid hotel WiFi and to have mobile internet while moving around. Connects well to iPhone and laptops.Only quibble is the battery life is relatively short (<10 hr) so do bring a USB charger!Despite the battery, would strongly recommend this hotspot for use overseas.
