I wish I bought a package that had more seeds. They don’t seem to fling too far when spreading onto a lawn. I made a decent heavy duty fling’er out of a stiff kitchen spoon but hard to tell if I get much over 10’ across the fence line. Also after 3 weeks I’m not seeing any new sprouts but I spread them at the same time that the natural dandy’s were seeding, and I don’t see new sprouts from them either. Probably just need to be patient. That’s on me. They definitely go farther than the naturals that blow in the wind at my house. Usually the wind on the fence line is into my face so it’s hard to get the naturals over the fence at all. They just blow back into my own yard. Overall I think this is a great product. In theory a yard or at least a portion of a yard within about 10 feet of the fence could be covered in dandies and after a couple good seed cycles their entire yard could be covered.

I was excited to see the non-GMO dandelion seeds. I have been using dandelions for years. I use them to make my smoothies and salads when the leaves are tender and cook them when the leaves get long. Dandelions are extremely nutritious (very high in vit A) and easy to grow. I volunteer in an orphanage in Kenya every year and these seeds went to Kenya. I am trying to expand their diets because many are dying in their 50's due to eating a poor man's diet of "ugali", a very thick cornmeal mush and a few greens. My biggest challenge is teaching them how to prepare the greens with their usual seasonings of tomatoes, onions, salt and oil and then to try it. It is so hard to get past cultural differences. Some are adventurous, but others wait to the reactions of others. Agriculture is their lifeline. They live from crop to crop. They do not know how to can, dehydrate or cure any foods. If there is a drought, they go hungry. We are teaching many food preservation skills, but it is a challenge. But dandelions grow well and profusely. Praise the Lord! You do not need to be a "professional" to grow these. I got these to grow dandelions for my bearded dragon to eat. I'm growing them indoors and they sprouted within a week. I have them under a growlight because my apartment doesn't get much sunlight but placing them on a window sill that gets enough sun light would work just as well. The seeds are super small and there's a lot more in there than you'd expect which is really nice especially if you plan on planting them outside or want to save them. Very easy instructions on the packaging. I used coco coir as the substrate since I plan on feeding them to my bearded dragon and didn't have any organic potting soil on hand. But I think organic potting soil would be a lot better because the sprouts are very light and delicate and when I water them in the coco coir some substrate rises with the water and gets on the sprouts which weigh them down. But to avoid that you could also just water from the bottom.

2 weeks & NO germination. Not a single sprout. I know dandelion can take up to 4 weeks for germination. If I see some sprouts over the next couple of weeks, I will update my review. The seeds have been watered by sprinkler 2x/day, so the soil is nice & moist. All the soil was turned by tractor & free of competing plants. It is spring in NE Texas. I have 1/4 acre of organic buckwheat that I set down in field next to dandelions & they are already putting out their 2nd set of leaves. Another 1/4 acre of wildflower seeds are already seedling. These were planted for my bees & chickens & ducks, so they're pretty important. If nothing grows, I'd like a refund or replacement packet. Update: 4 weeks now & NO GERMINATION. not. one. plant! I clearly got a bad batch of seed. Seller: please send refund or replacement! I bought seed from 2 other companies & all the other seeds are healthy seedlings, but not a single dandelion.

Ok so I have bought 3 packages of these seeds and on the 3rd try they finally grew. HERE'S THE TRICK TO GROWING - keep the soil wet all the time until the sprouts are nice and strong and use topsoil or potting mix. The first package I bought I watered 3 times a day, but I had just tossed them in essentially sand where no grass would grow, so I wasn't too surprised I had no luck. Now the second package I got a bit annoyed because I had spread an inch deep layer of fresh topsoil in my front and back yards. I watered the front twice per day and the back once per day to see if maybe I was over watering. Not one dandelion. Now I live in Florida, but I used to live up north and we had to fight the darns things off up there so i was a bit peeved they weren't growing. To be fair the instructions say keep the soil moist, I just didn't think I had to keep it wet every minute...yeah you do. Finally on the 3rd try I planted half in Miracle grow potting mix in flats of seedling pots. and spread more in my topsoil. I water the same way, the only difference was this time it also rained every day for the 5 days after I planted. Taa Daa! On exactly the 5th day I had teenie weenie little dandelion sprouts everywhere. Moral of the story: water, water, water. Never let the soil dry out until they have sprouted for a few days.
