Could be quieter….. And here’s how:
Yet another ETA: 2025 iOS 18 now stops Multiplayer/Single Device games as it doesn’t seem to allow multiple Blasters to connect via Bluetooth. The Single Player Game still works for now. I don’t know the situation with Android.Another ETA: As of June 30th 2023 the Laser Ops Pro App is no longer available on either Android or iOS. The blasters still work without the app (you can select team play or free-for-all) but it is not possible to record your scores or access power ups in multiplayer and the blasters will operate at full volumeETA: Never mind the adults, even kids can find the level of sound too much - to the point where they will gladly swap to other activities. Scroll down for info on how to cut the volume produced by these otherwise excellent blasters. The all-in-one design of the Deltaburst (and the Alphapoints) is durable and easy to operate straight out of the box since use of an App is optional. If by some miracle you manage to get hold of the app, you can no longer connect to the online servers which are used to host just one of the two multiplayer games. (This is the game option which needs WiFi, Location Services, Bluetooth AND one smart device per player!).Unfortunately the Settings menu in the App provides the only way to control the volume of a Deltaburst or Alphapoint (without modifying the blaster and providing it’s linked* to the App via Bluetooth). You can also try out the single-player game on the App without needing to buy a blaster at all. Just tap the screen to fire.*however, before you link or if you play either of the non-App games (instant team or free-for-all) the blasters will be as noisy as ever and even when linked, the App can only mute the electronic sounds. The mechanical ratchet noise (a Deltaburst feature) can only be muted by modifying the blaster (see below). The other multiplayer App game needs all players to link their blasters to just one smart device running the App via Bluetooth only (i.e. WiFi / Location Services / online servers are NOT needed with this multiplayer option). However the Bluetooth link to multiple toys can be flaky and at the end of a multiplayer match when players run back and huddle around the single device, some players’ blasters may not be able to relink to download their stats. This may be a Bluetooth range issue. You may want to test for this by playing a match indoors, maybe even sitting around on chairs to troubleshoot any connection issues in comfort.= DELTABURST SOUND MOD =IMPORTANT: These modifications are reversible but as always, undertake them at your own risk. The quickest way to get playing is to switch on a blaster, press the Reload button to cycle through the three team options: Purple - free for all, Red - join the red team, Blue - join the blue team. Pull the trigger to confirm your choice and go!However when used like this, these blasters are LOUD especially the Deltabursts which, unlike the Alphapoints have a mechanical ratchet. So much for stealthy sniping! Here’s the mod:You’ll need both a PH 1 cross-headed and a small flat-bladed screwdriver together with a roll of electrical tape (optional). You will also need a flat, dense foam disc 1.5mm thick and 35mm in diameter (as explained below).Remove the batteries, just to avoid the possibility of turning it on.The Deltaburst is held together with 31 screws. You only need to remove 23 😁Ignore the two screws which hold the front orange section and also the six which secure the buttstock. Remove the rest.22 of the screws are identical and can be reinstalled anywhere. The one longer screw can only fit below the Infra Red Sensor Dome at the front of the blaster (see photo). The side of the blaster can now be carefully removed, but you may need to reach under the side as it lifts away to help hole A slide off post A (see photo). At this point it’s also easy to dislodge the two translucent covers of the team colour LED, but these just slot back into the “roof” of the blaster. To disable the ratchet mechanism, just unplug motor B (see photo). You can secure this loose lead with a little electrical tape, but the connector is well insulated so it shouldn’t cause any problems if left.Motor C is left connected. This motor only spins up briefly either if the blaster gets hit or if you pull the trigger while the “magazine” is empty. Since both are useful, I’d advise leaving it as it is.The loudspeaker is hardwired into the bottom left corner of the main circuit board (see photo). The wires are labelled AUD N and AUD P. So instead, for a reversible mod, use the flat bladed screwdriver to bend the plastic Tab toward the front of the blaster and lift up one side of the purple backplate which secures the loudspeaker (see photo).Carefully remove the loudspeaker. The diameter of the speaker is 35mm but I only had some 25mm diameter, 1.5mm thick double-sided adhesive foam pads left over from another task, so I just placed one into the speaker holder (see photo). I chose NOT stick it to either the speaker or the holder so that I can continue to try other materials.Even with a smaller sized pad the harsh volume is greatly reduced. As you might expect, a small sandwiched pad tends to cut mid range frequencies mostly.Since sound is deadened by denser materials I would not advise going above 1.5mm thickness since you would run the risk of damaging the loudspeaker. Since furniture pads are 5mm thick and thinner, self-adhesive pads seem to max out at 30mm diameter, a 35mm by 1.5mm disc will probably need to be hand cut. Finally, secure the loudspeaker, replace the side of the blaster and, starting with the longest, reinstall all the screws.Insert the batteries.Switch on and enjoy the (relative) silence. The process is very similar for an Alphapoint: which has 15 identical screws to remove, no ratchet to disable and, although it doesn’t look like it, the same 35mm diameter loudspeaker - no really.

Fantastic
Futuristic design, a lot of fun. It feels heavy and sturdy. The only downside is the sound. Not having a volume button, which probably would have risen the price a lot, the sound is very loud. So, no playing after 22:00 :). The mobile phone mount is perfect for single player mode. The mobile app is great and by gaining points, you unlock nice features for two or multiple players mode. Mobile app runs without issues (huawei mate 20 lite). Overall, great!

Very fun!
We bought 2 of these guns one this one, and one the smaller one. They are really fun and I wish I had these when I was young.Son uses them to play with his friends next door and also play the shooting using th etc VR app.Build quality is also pretty good, solid plastic feels very sturdy and high quality.Only down side is the sound from the gun is pretty loud but not big enough to remove a star.

No more tidying up Nerf bullets
At home we have a wall full of Nerf guns. Big bullet, little bullet and the hard yellow balls. Just with two boys, this means cleaning up ammo from everywhere. With this kit, you have a gun which fires an invisible light beam. There is an ammo counter on the back, like Halo or Aliens 2, and a health meter. You shoot at each other, we have two of these, until the life bar is zero. Run out of ammo, there is a reload button. For more players you simply set which colour team you are on and off you go.This, with use of a smart phone, is the only Nerf gun that you can battle alone. Sync the phone to the gun and you have a selection of single player games.
