Will this clean high traffic and old staining ?

Really well, our farmhouse carpet, 3 dogs,1 cat and 2 teenagers trashed our carpet. I didn’t hold out much hope but I was really really impressed how well the carpet came up, any severe stains, such as oil and grease I just use the spot tool, And they came up brilliantly.

How does the build quality of this compare to other brands? Our previous vax was rubbish quite frankly. Looking at a bissell or rug doctor to replace

We have not had a Vax for several years, our previous Bissell was a replacement for one. Build quality then was far superior to the Vax machine we had owned. This machine is fantastic, very high quality, a lot of thought has gone in to the design to make it very easy to use and maintain and clean. The build quality on this is a huge improvement to our previous machine. Hope this helps :)

Would this machine be suitable to clean a shag pile rug?

I have done my rug and it leaves quite a bit of excess water when the cleaners comes off the rug..but I was still happy with the results..
