Happy I bought it
This is a small can, so make sure you buy the size you want. If this was a garbage can, it would hold a full, black garbage bag. It is a good size for me, plus I think with a bigger can, I might get too ambitous and burn a bigger fire! Make sure you have a cleared safe space to use it and a long handled tool of some sort to push around your contents and keep the fire burning. The air holes REALLY do their job, but sparks will fly out of them, so you need a good safety zone, and you need to monitor it while using.I'm very happy to have this item and be able to reduce my paper and cardboard recyling.

Good size makes it easy to handle.
The can is a little lighter weight than I expected. I have used it once. I hope it will last because it's light enough for me to handle and the holes all around the can keep the fire burning. So far, so good.

Worked well on a windy day.
I had a bunch of private papers I needed to destroy and so I bought one of these burn bins not really knowing what to expect. What I got was a 2/3 sized galvanized garbage can with patterns of multiple holes drilled into it and its lid. I loaded it up about a quarter full with paper, poured just a few ounces of gas in it and lit it up from the outside with a MAP torch by directing its flame through one of the holes.Impressions: It works and I had no problem with flying paper ash even though it was a windy day. You will have to periodically lift the lid and stir the paper to get it to all burn... that's why you don't want to put too high a pile of paper inside it... your ashes might blow outside if there isn't enough can wall shielding it from the wind. As a neophyte to burning trash I was surprised how long it took to burn all of my papers. But the bottom line: it reduced those papers to a bed of ashes which I later bagged and disposed of after a couple of days.Others have complained of rusting problems. The galvanizing appears to be destroyed by the heat of the fire. I've brought my can inside the garage and it shows no signs of rusting. I have no doubt though that it would if I left it out in the weather. If I had to buy another one of these, I would.

Thanks weird people for thinking of punching holes in a metal can!
This is seriously the best burn can ever! I had tax stuff for almost fifteen years to burn and I did not want to kill my shredder. If you have to delay your paper burn project just put the lid on it and the fire will (almost) die. Burn your stuff with absolutely nothing over-head. No tree branches, telephone wires, awning, etc. Otherwise, go to town. This is way way better than the break-down versions you see on tv. Plus it is super versatile. Use it for composting or just a garbage can! This saved me and saved my shredder! Thanks weird people for thinking of punching holes in a metal can!

Just what I needed
I need to burn yard waste. Although I have a firepit It was difficult for me to burn yard waste in the fire pit as it would fall over on the sides. This can is tall enough for me to burn the waste in. I really like it I’m glad I bought it.

Economical alternative to expensive burn cages.
I just finished burning 5 years of tax records plus another pile of papers my wife supplied, and I'm delighted with my Behrens rubbish burner. The ventilation was sufficient to support a comfortable burn rate so I didn't have to wait long for the fire to reduce the contents. From what I see online I could have paid $350 - $450 for a stainless steel burn cage, but this economical alternative did the job for 1/10 the cost. Or I could have gotten an ugly 55 gallon steel drum and punched some holes with a pick, but this Behrens rubbish burner is more manageable and came ready to go with plenty of uniformly spaced ventilation holes. (BTW the picture doesn't show that the can is elevated on 4 x 2 1/2" legs and has ventilation holes underneath too.) My needs are pretty much limited to tax records every few years, so this 20 gallon can is perfect.

Keeps out vermin!!! But some minor complaints.
I have gone through 3 plastic -- THICK plastic -- composters, and rats have dug under or chewed holes in all of them. I've done battle with them for years and though I had it won with wire mesh under the composter, but they managed eventually to chew through the sides. I had a barrel that was off the ground a few inches, figured they wouldn;t be able to get leverage to chew through that; they did. Finally I thought: metal. I've had 2 of these Behrens composters for a couple of years, and the rats have not penetrated (and seem to have disappeared). Downsides are that they're not as big as I'd like, filling up pretty quickly; and I kinda wonder if they wouldn't compost more quickly if they were painted black instead of left silver; I'm no physicist, but it seems the sunlight is being reflected rather than absorbed. Not great to look at after a few months (staining around the holes that I hope isn't rust), but if you have a vermin problem, this is the best answer I've found.

Convenient, inconspicuous burning
We have a ton of confidential files to be disposed of. This item works well for burning all that paper inconspicuously and without much smoke.
