CSB HRL1234WF2FR 12 V Battery

My batteries were not keeping a charge for my Powervar UPS. These were exactly what I needed and it seems to be working well.

There's not much to say about batteries. They either work, or they don't. These seem to be as good as the batteries that came in my UPS. It would be hard to compare them with the originals even after I see if these last a shorter time, the same time, or a longer time than the originals, since the lifetime depends as much on how many times they are drained (i.e., how often the power to the house goes out) as it does on the quality of the batteries. They are the same size as the batteries that came with the UPS. They are cheaper than buying a replacement pack of 2 batteries with cables, but installation is a little more work because you have to transfer the cables and the plastic sheet with adhesive that holds the two batteries together, from the old set to the new set, rather than just dropping in a new replacement pack. It was about a 10 to 15 minute job to connect up the new batteries. It required paying attention to what I was doing, but no particular skill. All I can say is that I'd buy these again.

There are a plethora of these batteries available on Amazon. I have tried the inexpensive Mighty battery and the more costly PowerSonic but none of them last more than two years at the most. But for a UPS, a High Rate discharge battery in required. Many of the UPS manufacturers use the CSB battery as OEM and they seem to last four to five years. Therefore, I sought out the CSB HR line even though they are much more expensive. I purchased a set from Battery Store Inc. and they seem to be genuine and fresh CSB HR batteries. For the batteries I purchased in 11/2025, the MFG date appears to be 9/2025. Also, the Ancel battery tester rated these to have 165CCA, 12.7V on standby, and 17-18mOhms. This is usually a sign of a healthy battery. Unfortunately, just a few months later and these batteries have gone up another 20% in price. But I am going to get more of them anyway. These have not been installed yet and I will report back later to see if they hold up like the OEM batteries. Of course, that might take a few years.

I gave it 5 stars because it arrived when expected and packed well. Also, I am familiar with the HRL Series by CSB. It is rated for a longer life than the HR or the GP and the other brands of batteries of this type. A lot less expensive than the APC replacement part.

Title says it all. I thought this batt was going to be different and unfortunately, it wasn't. It just didn't last and burned out and stopped working after ONLY 14 months (from May 2020 to July 2021). Mind you, my UPS NEVER used the battery backup during that time. It was ALWAYS charged up for the 14 months until the other day it just stopped working. When I called the company a couple of times (since they never returned my call), they told me the bad news. I thought they'd understand and work with me (being such a HUGE company), but NO. They didn't BUYER BEWARE as most people here already wrote their reviews. I usually wait until months or even over a year BEFORE I write something. I would NOT purchase these batts from them and look elsewhere. Your choice though...

I bought this battery to replace the OEM battery in a UPS. In the past I have purchased the "HR" version of this battery, which have performed very well, so wanted to try this, the "HRL" (High Rate Life) version to compare. Since it is new I can not speak to longevity yet, but will update this review if it does not perform up to spec. Also, I purchased this battery from seller "Atlantic Battery Systems" and the battery arrived quickly and with a good charge on it, 12.7v. Overall a very positive purchase experience.

Direct replacement for the old batteries in my APC UPS. At first the APC wasn't happy (saying they were fully charged, but not giving full length of time they would last at the current energy output), but after they charged for 12 hours it has been fine. It has worked properly over 2 small power outages.

Two of these will work in an APC RBC124 battery pack. Needs the original bracket. Be sure to note the correct orientation of the wiring and assembly before replacing. The original batteries in the pack were model HR1234W.
