Perfect Journal for Rising 2nd Grader
This is the perfect journal for a 1st or 2nd grader!THE PROS!!!!---MORE LINES THAN MOST K-2 JOURNALS - The front of each page is 1/2 space for drawing and 1/2 space for writing. It's so great that the back of the page has additional space for writing. Moving into 2nd grade, I want to encourage my child to write paragraphs. This is the perfect tool for us. Most K-2 journals only have the 1/2 page space to write, which isn't conducive to paragraphs or longer stories.---SPIRAL BINDING - We especially love the spiral binding! It is more comfortable to write with the spiral binding. Traditional composition books can be awkward to navigate. Mychild is a lefty! So this makes it a little easier on her too.---STRONG COVER - The cover is nicely laminated, so it should holde up better than a traditional composition book.---DIMENSIONS - It is about and inch taller and 1/2 inch wider than a traditional composition, so there is a little more room to draw/write.THE CONS!!!---NUMBER OF PAGES - This book is thinner than a traditional composition book. I'd say there are only 1/4 the pages of a composition book. We won't be able to write as much in here. (For me, though, don't mind have a slightly slimmer book. I'd rather work on making quality writing than a huge quanitty of low quality writing. We're going to use this as a "special summer journal"!)

Perfect journal for the beginning writer
My 5 year old (heading into Kindergarten) wanted a journal like his big sisters, and this was PERFECT. The lines are large enough for him to be able to write a easily, and the space at the top allows him to draw him picture - just like he will be expected to do in school in the fall. In the short time that he has had his journal he has already filled most of the pages with his stories and writings, and we are getting ready to order him another book.

Blank canvass, ready for your child’s art and story boarding!
Such creativity can come out of this. It’s a canvass, ready for a child to practice writing and drawing. My son who hates to write would draw a picture first, then that would motivate him to write about what he drew. It worked out very well for us; we did a page a day and finished in one summer. Will serve as a treasure as he gets older.

It’s useful
It has lines for the kids to practice their writing skills. The school use this book was the reason that I bought it.

Perfect for capturing my kindergartener's summer experiences
Now when my daughter's 1st grade teacher assigns the inevitable "What did you do over your summer vacation", my daughter will have a journal full of experiences - both in writing and in illustrations - in order to jog her memory! I chose this specific journal because it had the same features that my daugher's kindergarten teacher used to teach writing skills: the head line (at the top), the foot line (at the bottom) and the (dotted) belt line in the middle to help gauge where the top of an "a" or an "e" should be. Plus, similar to what my daughter used in kindergarten, there was also a nice, big space at the top to illustrate each journal entry. My daughter loves writing in this journal, which made the investment in it worth every penny!

I highly recommend getting this
My son uses this as an activity in class. He's first grade and is now able to write his own stories and add a drawing, sketch or illustration on top. I highly recommend getting this. Some of the things he write about are really funny and cute. I'm definitely keeping his old ones together with his art. We are going through our third journal right now.

PERFECT!
I have 3 extremely artistic and extremely lively kids, twin 7 year old girls and 5 year boy who loves these journals. It's perfect for short stories, illustrating, practicing handwriting and constructive productivity for all three. So happy to stumble across this jem, everything is perfect and the quality is great (especially since my son has a tendency to be a lil rough with journals)---my only issue is that I didn't double my order because I'm going to need more soon since they are flying through the pages.I'm a very happy mommy!

Perfect K/1 journal
This journal is perfect for the child who is just beginning to write sentences through maybe second grade. I would have my first grader write about something fun he did that week and draw a picture to go with it. We have a sweet journal of memories!
