The perfect mouse doesn't exis....
The only mouse you'll ever need. The weight of the charge dock is portioned perfect so that you can lift the mouse off without lifting the charge dock. The mouse is held on by magnetics and the 2.4ghz dongle plugs into the dock also for a short wireless signal distance. 500mah battery so it won't go dead on you while not in use. The thing goes up to 8000hz polling which is just insane. Looks NES themed and I adore this. Very light weight mouse and super comfortable. Has 4 side buttons, 2 on each side, easy to press and positioned so I don't accidently press them. The wheel feels great with a button below it to change DPI on the fly. Goes perfect with my Retro NES style keyboard. Grab both and you'll be happy.

Retro flair meets high-tech performance—perfect desktop companion
This 8BitDo Retro R8 mouse immediately caught my attention with its nostalgic design, perfectly matching my retro-themed keyboard, yet it delivers modern performance with its PAW 3395 optical sensor and Kailh Sword GM-X micro switches. The sensor responded smoothly and accurately whether I was browsing or flipping through documents, while the switches provided a satisfying tactile click that feels premium and precise. Switching between 2.4 GHz, Bluetooth, and wired USB-C modes was seamless, giving me flexibility to connect to my desktop, laptop, or gaming console as needed. The included charging dock not only keeps the mouse powered—from its rechargeable battery—but also acts as a stable base when idle, minimizing desktop clutter. Ergonomically, it feels lightweight and well-balanced, ideal for daily use, though it may require a bit of adjustment if you’re used to weighted gaming mice. Overall, this mouse blends form and function brilliantly: it performs just as well as it looks, making it a standout pick for anyone looking to elevate their workspace aesthetics without sacrificing performance.

Don't let the looks fool you - it's a great mouse underneath all of those retro inspired looks
I'm a fan of the retro look that 8Bitdo goes for a lot and this mouse is no exception. It's cool that they also matched the dock to the same look. It's very easy to charge the mouse on the dock so the looks aren't the only thing nice about the dock. As for actual use, don't let the retro look fool you - it's responsive, comfortable, lightweight but not cheap feeling. The software that's used is minimalistic is features but it does what you need it to do. There's no RGB or lighting at all on the mouse so it can be hard to see in a darker environment if you set it down. But that's not an issue typically for me. It's been dropped a few times since purchase and it's never shown any wear or damage. There are 2 programmable buttons on each side that I haven't really used for anything as of yet and thankfully they do not get in the way of typical use either. It's nice to have something in this price range that includes all the features you'd expect and then some.

Very High Quality Mouse
Very high quality, mostly on par with my actual gamer mouse with the exception of less conveniently placed buttons. The side buttons are weird and the right side buttons are weirder, but just require some getting used to. The dock is very high quality, stylish and weighty, and feels a lot more convenient than the conventional wireless mouse. My only real complaints are with the mouse wheel and the mouse software. The mouse wheel is good but a bit sharp at the edges, so it can leave my finger sore if I touch it too much. The software feels a bit janky, and it took a decent bit of finagling to just get the Windows key working for one of the buttons. I also don't like how the buttons don't have their own inputs and instead need to be mapped to other keys, but this is a nitpick. Generally very high quality mouse, worth the price.

Can't go wrong with 8bitdo
8bitdo has continued to expand their desktop PC devices from keyboards to now high performance mice. I already owned the NES-themed version of this peripheral. However, I also use the 8bitdo keyboard and numpads as my daily driver, so getting the matching C64-themed mouse was a no-brainer. It's surprisingly lighter than the NES-themed version, but still features the adjustable DPI settings so that you can really dial in the sensitivity. Connectivity is bluetooth and 2.4 ghz. The wireless dock is adroned with the standard Commodore rainbow decoration, making it much more attractive than the NES version to look at when the mouse is undocked. The materials are high quality. And wireless charging round out the feature set. Can't go wrong with 8bitdo.

The design and dock are so nice.
I love this mouse. Of course the aesthetic is what drew me in. I mostly use an ergonomic shaped mouse, and I am a firm believer that variety is one of the best things you can do for your wrist, so I switch between this and an ergonomic shaped mouse. Having so many DPI settings directly built in to the mouse is great. I've been using this at work and home, since I don't need software to change the sensitivity. The click is kinda loud (I prefer quiet clicks) but they are nice a deep, so they aren't sharp and irritating. The dock is great. USB feeds to the back of it, you plug the dongle into the charging base. Such a good and clever design. I love the feel and sound of the scroll wheel. It's just a solid mouse with some really thoughtful design behind it.

probably good for office use for style but not for gaming
I had to return this due to issues with the sensor skipping and the clicks double clicking. Wired or wireless had the same issue and even updating the firmware didn't solve this. on the heavier side but has a nice symmetrical feel. not a bad price but there is better for cheaper

It's a great mouse if you like retro style and feeling. Though the USB cable that comes with it is bad quality... After not even a month of usage I keep getting USB disconnects frequently! Then after a few seconds it reconnects. Super annoying since it's a wireless mouse and it simply stops working every now and then =\ After replacing the USB cable I have not been having any issues every since...

8BitDo have done an amazing job with this mouse. As someone who has used a lot of mice from Logitech G Pro Superlight, G502x, Pulsar's X2 and X2H and the Glorious Model O V1 and V2 and Glorious Forge series. Sometimes you just want something simple and effective and this mouse from 8BitDo does that. Although it may not be the most ergonomic mouse it feels comfortable to use. The side buttons are a little bit odd because they are so small but once you get used to it that problem goes away. The best part of this mouse is the charging dock. The magnets to the base are strong. It has a spot for the 2.4ghz adaptor so you just plug it into the dock and then the included USB C to A cable into your PC and you have both charging and connection in one. It is really well thought out. The fact you can swap between 2.4ghz to Bluetooth makes this mouse even better. As you can use it for your gaming PC and then use the same mouse for when you are working from home. It has done a great job of simplifying my peripherals. In regards to competitive gaming I have not noticed any difference in my first person shooting performance when using the Retro R8 mouse to some of the more competitive focused mice. Would definitely recommend. Also the Xbox theme is the best.

Significan't more comfortable than I thought, and the sensor itself is great. The base is quite weighty and allows you to remove the mouse without having the base slide on your desk, honestly I think it's pretty great for the price.
