openreach NTE5c Master Socket MK2

Beware that the 5C version socket uses different interstitial faceplates in the test socket (which is now located in the middle). This design change means no previous faceplates will work at all as this master is a complete redesign.When buying this one, this faceplate does not have a modem socket (you need the Mk3 VDSL plate which is designed for this). This master can only be used as a phone socket as the plate only has one connection. I made this mistake and had to buy another whole unit with the two socket faceplate and you can't buy these on their own (well I couldn't find one).The faceplate is screwless which sounds like a great idea, but it's not. If you have wiring that pushes out too far the plate won't lock into place and then won't make an ideal connection to the test socket. Also it is easy to knock off. Toolless access to remove the plate and is great to make the electrical connection to the IDC sockets (no punch down tool is required for this installation). Works fine. Removed internet connectivity problem.

Working well, only wanted the front part but had to buy the whole thing.

Seems reasonable quality however does NOT include backplate!

All excellent, can't improve the impossible though, as we are all at the beck and call of service providers, the NTE5c was in excellent working condition, good price, arrived before the flagged date, yummy :-)

The socket is fine but no instructions

Replacing the original faceplate with this one immediately cured a persistent crackle on the line.

This really was the simplest way to wire up a telephone socket. Great job.
