Monstrum Side Saddle Shell Holder V2 | 12 Gauge | Compatible with Winchester SXP Defender Shotguns

Great product and fit perfectly on my Winchester. Completed package, very easy to install and came will all the appropriate hardware.

Pretty good saddle rail. Like a few other reviewers have noted, the trigger group retention pin that was provided does not have beveled edges like the stock one does, so we needed to hand-file one side to a beveled edge to get it to insert. (Which is why I knocked the review down 1 star). Otherwise it would have been an easy installation, but for the fact that we had to take the aftermarket stock off to remove the trigger group assembly to see the problem -- turning what should have been a 5-minute install into 30 minutes. Overall, it's a nice fit for an old 1300 that we didn't want to spend the time/money to drill and tap. I've come to expect these small problems/annoyances from Monstrum products.

This product risked damage to my shotgun (Winchester Super X Pump Defender SXP TR6023) The factory trigger group pin has rounded ends, the grooves are narrow and round. There’s a spring that is tight enough to keep it in place, but loose enough to allow you to push it through. Using this side saddle requires using a different trigger group pin with screws at the end. It was being super finnicky to get in place. Just as I thought to myself “huh, this is going to make takedown for cleaning a huge pain” it slipped into position and got stuck. The grooves on this pin are wide, deep, and have crisp edges. I had to use a significant and uncomfortable amount of force to get the stuck pin out. After doing more research, I came to discover that Monstrum makes another side saddle that mounts to the holes on top of the receiver without requiring use of the trigger group pin. For some reason, it doesn’t rank in Amazon search results and only showed up when ai searched Monstrum’s page. It’s cheaper, it doesn’t risk damage to your shotgun, and it won’t make takedown inconvenient. Get that one.

This said it fit a Winchester 1300, but it only has one attachment point. I like the mount but I don't know if it will be secure or not. The top of my receiver is not drilled and tapped, so much for no gunsmithing required.
