Q: I'm putting this in my entertainment center and wondering where should i put the sub unit for the best base sound, [enclosed or in the open] ?

okay so the best way to find out where to place a sub is kinda silly but it works. place the sub where you will be sitting. then go to the corners of the room or locations where you might place the sub. where it is the loudest place it there.

Q: Why does the subwoofer make a horrible sound when it's on? Even with the volume all the way down sounds like if it's getting interference and its loud

I had the same issue. The sub needs to be on the ground and the speakers must be at a high level than the sub. This will make the sound go away.

Q: Can somebody pls tell me how the 'gold' color actually looks. It seems more like 'orange' to me.

Definitely more orange than gold. If you google image search "orange gold," the resulting pictures have the approximate shade, in my opinion.
