This is just an excellent thermometer, it comes with a calibration certificate and is filled out by hand after ETI have tested it. Far too msny of the cheap ones available online have a plus or minus tolerance of up to two degrees, which for my purposes just isn't accurate enough. According to the calibration certificate with my thermopen, it should be accurate to within 0.4 degrees, which is great. I'm using it to monitor temperatures in my Koi Pond as I also heat it and need an accurate check so as not to waste energy and of course provide the optimum environment for the fish. My temperature controller on the heating system is currently set to 22 degrees and the thermopen is showing the pond water to be at 22.6 degrees, which would be about right. The unit itself feels sturdy and the metal rod measures the temperature from the tip only - 0.5mm, so all I have to do is dip it in just a bit and it gives me a reading within two seconds. Compared to others that I've bought, it's super fast. I love the fold out and it comes on immediately and close to power down, just makes it easier to use. Overall a quality piece of kit and highly recommended for any temperature measuring purpose.

Quick, accurate temps. I have used for over 15 years!!!! Its is the best that I found. Great for accurate temps on the grill, in the oven, on the hob. Easy to read

After 6 month the small “wings” that holds the battery cover in place partially broke: cover is not falling yet but it can happen any moment and then I’ll have to replace the thermometer. I barely used the thermometer, it was always in the case and never in a dishwasher. Perhaps it is a manufacturing defect? Such quality is unacceptable for this price.
