Peace of mind for me
I've always had anxiety about remembering to close my garage door, and thankfully the neighbors put up with me calling or texting for them to check on the door for me. Now I don't have to bother with any of that. I have a smartphone, but don't like having a lot of apps and things to check (I refuse to become addicted to my phone), so I needed something that would work itself without needing to be constantly connected- same reason I used "old" monitors for my kids instead of the video monitors. My main complaint is the super loud beeping when it's about to close, but I took another reviewer's suggestion of adding a piece of duct tape over the speaker and that helped tremendously. My husband had no complaints about installation. Been working as intended for a couple months now, does drive my dog crazy when he hears the door close but nobody is here, haha. A worthy investment for me.

Did you really send me a used device ?
I thought it was a brand new product... but not so much. Open the box the cables were all bunched up and the double sided glue is still on the device. Seriously !

Works very well! Beeping is LOUD.
I ordered this one when our original gave up the ghost after several years of good service. It works just fine. For those of you who are annoyed by appliances-gadgets that beep, holy crap stay AWAY from a garage Butler. I can feel the beeping in my fillings!! Even with duct tape over the speaker.*but* it works great and faithfully and isn’t hard to install. If you’re worried about forgetting that you left the door open, this is a great gadget to have.

Work well, easy to hook up.
This is my third one of these I have bought. They are nice units with the ability to set closing delay times among 6 different lengths of time, a hold button if you want to suspend auto closing until you manually close the door, a manual door open/close button, an on/off switch to suspend closing until you reactivate it, and an easy hook up if you already have a door closing button nearby. This unit essentially replaces a door closing button. I have had 2 units for over a year without problems. I would suggest you install the door sensors high up on the door where the rail is still parallel to the door as you will not bump/bend the sensors when moving things in and out of the garage.

Forget it
2 people that know how to install stuff like this gave up. I had to return it. Not an easy thing to do.

Older technology, but has been very reliable.
Works well. Install was easy.Pros:- Closes door if it is open longer than selected time.- Easy to install.- Works consistently.- More than enough wire to install in a normal garage.- Unlike Nexx gen 2 controller, this has worked well and appears to have been thoroughly tested in a real life installation.- Loud warning before closing that can be heard from about anyplace in my yard.Cons:- Selected delay for automatic close resets to 5 minutes after power outage.- Not internet connected. If something is in the way of the door closing, causing the door to open again, the device can't tell. Sends a close signal after another delay period. Not much they can do about that, though.I also bought a Nexx gen 2 garage controller. This is more consistent and reliable. Wired sensors are great. (Wireless ones from Nexx SUCK! The wired ones Nexx sends when you complain about the wireless ones SUCK!) I wish this company would create an updated version that can connect to the internet and work with a phone app. The 2 current options for internet connected units SUCK.

Not worth the effort
It worked one time and then stopped working. The sound it made was exceptionally loud and lasted way too long.
