Don't listen to the naysayers, this is a unique solution to a unique problem
Do not take too much stock in some of the negative reviews here. This is a good product for a unique problem. I'm just trying to use a theft deterrent, not fool-proof theft prevention (which is not possible). 1. The price is high, but I'm guessing that is to compensate for the R&D for this item and that there isn't anything competing that doesn't force you to stick something permanent on your machine. I have a nice, new Dell XPS which shockingly did not have a lock port, and I really don't want to stick anything on it. I haven't seen other solutions that are this unobtrusive. 2. The notion that someone could just remove it with a screwdriver is alleviated by just getting a lock that covers the screwdriver slot. Most locks would do that. 3. The idea that once installed, it can't be removed is incorrect. Loosen the screw and it pulls out with a little effort. Could this damage the headphone jack over time? I don't know, but I don't need to use this every day. 4. The idea that if someone yanks hard enough they could destroy the headphone jack? Well, the alternative is that they got your whole machine, so that seems acceptable. These locks are DETERRANTS, not truly preventative of theft. Someone with pretty basic wire cutters and a little time can just cut the cable itself, but whether they're yanking hard or using wire cutters, their activity will likely get noticed so you hope they won't try, or move on to an easier target.

I got this to secure my brand new laptop, which doesn't have a built-in K-Slot. Thankfully, I did a dry test before actually inserting it into the audio jack. It turns out that once the locking mechanism is opened using the provided screwdriver, it stays open-meaning it can’t be plugged into the audio jack anymore. I’m returning this useless piece of junk. If you ever consider trying one, make sure you don’t insert it into the audio jack first. If I hadn’t tested it beforehand, it would have been stuck in my brand new laptop. What a nightmare that would have been.

Does what it says. It fits into the 3.5mm jack and winds out to lock. The Kensington lock then fits A-OK and pretty much blocks the screw that winds it out to grab hold of the 3.5mm jack hole (so it can't be undone easily). On reflection however, because it is able to be rotated in the slot and provide a good amount to grasp, I am more concerned that it could easily be forcibly broken from my laptop. Ok, the thief would have a broken chassis but they would also have all my data and a repairable device. Also, the lock footprint is rather large and covers a connection point next to it (sigh). I think I need to revisit my requirements. Maybe a more robust PC chassis than the HP Omen 17" provides (bigger sigh!).

My MacBook Pro had no Kensington lock slot to secure it, after searching for a suitable solution this Anchor lock adapter works really well and easy to install.
