Good choice!
I choose this one is because I can use upside down ( almost burn myself with the cheap torch). secondly web site state Made in Japan, but is not, Is okay to me. Just wish they could make a Click sound when you turn it off ?

Top notch product
I’ve not owned a proper kitchen torch til now and after reading the reviews on this and the cheaper Chinese units I decided that I’d step up to the Japanese device. Very well made and it works marvelously. Looking forward to the many uses I will be putting it to from charring steaks and chicken skins to re-lighting added charcoal in my grill. Eff the Chinese crap.

Good
There’s a lot of cheaper options available but I chose Iwatani because of their brand quality. So far, it seems to be working well. Attaching it to the canister is a little sketchy. The instructions say to turn it 33 degrees to lock it on but it feels like way less than that. So far it holds on with no leaks. The flame is smooth and the control knob is very responsive. However, I feel the connection design could be improved. It definitely doesn’t feel like a positive connection.

Great quality butane torch, consistent, long-lasting
This torch has proven to be great quality, as it provides a nice even burn, and has not deteriorated in quality over a year+ of usage.

Good when it works but unreliable and can be dangerous
This is the strongest flame from a butane torch I use. My issue is the reliability as I’ve ordered multiple for my restaurant. It’s the fastest torch we’ve tried but recently we’ve had to replace them with some failing literally the same day. Out of the package it works great but then some units emit a very little amount of gas so the flame is minuscule to to non-existent. No lie we had one fail after one use. The gas would just not come out after turning the knob. Secondly we had a couple unit that would not shut quickly or completely unless turned really hard. What that results is in a dangerous situation as we used it then turned the knob to shut off the gas, some units look and sound like they’re off but actually emitting a tiny bit of gas which keeps the flame on but it’s difficult to see. Needless to say this is extremely dangerous as you could either burn yourself or burn the building down. Imagine thinking the unit is turned off for the night and the butane torch is emitting a flame all night possibly catching something on fire. You could also be reaching across it thinking it’s off and burn yourself.Great when it works but reliability is so bad recently

rock solid
this thing will cook!! easy to use, never fails to ignite on first try, flame is insane. it adjusts easily from raging jet engine blur to candle yellow with the simple twist of a knob. I have two of these. every kitchen should have one of these.

very nice torch with ability to have a cool flame
I love turning the flame where it isn't so hot so that I can caramelize a cream brule and not burn any of the sugar. It's not just turning the output down it's how it controls the shape of the flame. one way is very precise and very concentrated. the other and it's diffuse and not as hot. Perfect for what I was after.

Broke after the first bottle of butane
worked great until it stoppededit : so i ordered this to replace this one after it broke:https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FFNKQVD/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_dp_53ZW2YWYSNG1HYPVPQVM?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1and after researching i dont think this is a real iwatani, the replacement one i linked works SO MUCH BETTER, then this one before it broke. it's like night and day. Chars in a fraction of the time, keeping the meat from over cooking and melts cheese from a distance instantly. The iwatani, i would have to get close to the cheese, which would burn it as it would melt it. First picture is the "iwatani" after it broke, and the second pic is the one i linked in review. the flame is twice as long as the "iwatani" before it broke.
