Master Plumber 224-410 MP Toilet Seat Hinge, White

Bought 2of these to replace crumbling plastic hinges (different style) on two 10 yr old toilets. They seem to work fine but are a bit difficult to position. You have to be careful to space the seat far enough from the hinge axis so the seat will stay up without binding on hinge. Found this out after drilling new holes in the seat. Hint, install the hinge on the toilet first and check if the seat will go back to rest on the tank before drilling new holes. Lid install is straight forward as seat position will determine lids spacing.

Fixed what I thought would be a big problem - very quickly!

This product is not as it is presented. Read your measurements very carefully, this did not fit our toilet made in the USA.

I bought this for my mother who is a bit miserly and insisted on making it work. The seat was church brand and I've forgotten the commode brand.I had to do add a cap to the end to lengthen it for it to be wide enough. Check the screw length to ensure it doesn't poke through the seat or lid. The screws were easily stripped so maybe use different ones. One of the long plastic bolts (that secure the hinge bar to the commode) were too wide to fit through the hole (the plastic anchor on the hinge) so i had to ream it out.It is holding up well. Having to retro fit is difficult and the reason for 3 stars- a template or something to guide would be ideal for positioning the new holes. I am pretty handy and maybe there was a better way but for average homeowner it was a pain. I do not recommend retro fitting if the toilet sees much traffic.

I used the hinge set to repair the toilet seat on a boat toilet.Boat toilets are somewhat different then home toilets so some modifications were necessity. No surprise, I know this was true and that is why I bought this particular hinge set. The set was slightly different then the photo but that was not a problem. I looked at a lot of hinge sets but this was the only one versatile enough to work in this application.Very good product!

I had to replace the metal hardware on a bamboo toilet seat. Local hardware stores did not stock this item. The plastic hardware is not as sturdy as metal, resulting in a slight amount of play, but it will not corrode like the hardware it replaced and I am very happy that I did not have to "trash" the bamboo seat.

all plastic one family member fluffy and the hinges twist loose other would be ok
