One of the best watch values around. A modern classic and "serious" watch at a low price.
These days I am a pretty big watch collector with things at every value level, but I got my start—my first "real" watch purchase—with an original Orient Mako from Amazon a number of years ago. That original Mako was worn and beaten to within an inch of its life. I wore it everywhere, for all occasions and circumstances, and it showed by the time I gave it away to someone who badly needed a watch. It had been through the ringer, looked like a battlefield artifact, but kept on ticking and keeping very accurate from-the-factory time at about +3s/day.Well, I recently decided that it was time to get a Mako again now that the Mako II is out. Mako II keeps the unique dial styling, narrow bezel, serious water resistance, and basic feel while adding hacking and hand-winding.It was a joy to open this up and see a brand new Mako once again, and this one is also eerily accurate at about the same level, straight from the factory. And I liked it so much now that I am a more serious watch hobbyist that I have invested more in it—I have added a domed sapphire crystal and a high-end bracelet from Strapcode with screwed links, solid end links, and a forged chamfer clasp. It now competes in every way with much, much more expensive watches, while having that amazing "Mako look."All of which is to say that this watch is a modern classic and a fabulous value at this price. Stock, it keeps incredibly accurate time for a mechanical watch, swims with the best day-to-day divers out there, runs forever and holds up amazingly well, and looks unique, elegant, and also just a bit aggressive, all at the perfect size (41mm wearing a tad small—not too large, not to tiny for just about any wrist). And beyond stock, because of the popularity of the Orient Mako/Ray platform, it is now also a great base for a higher-end "project watch" if you want to go that route. If I was advising someone on a "first serious watch" to spend money on—a first watch purchase beyond a Timex—I think this would be my absolute strongest recommendation. "Get an Orient Mako II and wear it with joy—everywhere and in every circumstance. It'll serve you well."

You Will Not Find a Better Watch at This Price
I love watches. I am not an expert. I adore this watch. Orient makes some of the finest automatic watches in the world. Especially under $200 dollars. I have a number of automatics, and this is my favorite. In fact this is my favorite watch, period. Now, I don't need a watch so accurate that losing 7 seconds a day is a deal breaker. This is a beautiful watch. the blue face is really nice, much better looking than any photo could show. I also have the black face version. It is just as good, but the blue face is special. And usually out of stock everywhere. If you own more than one automatic watch, the problem is, when you switch watches, you have to shake it a lot to bring it up to speed so it keeps good time. They make automatic winders, as seen near the beginning of the Dr. Strange movie. But, for me, that over-complicates things, in a bad complication way. So, this watch uses the F69 calibre (mechanism) designed by Orient (Seiko owns part of Orient). The F69 has 22 jewels and is capable of self-winding (automatic), hand winding (You turn the crown, yourself.), and hacking (Pull the crown all the way out and the second hand stops). Now, I have some lovely watches, many are Orient, so I hate to see them languish in my watch box. Therefore, I do not wear this beauty every day. Sometimes, by the time I wear it again, it has wound down. All I have to do is unscrew the crown (which has the Orient logo on it...nice) and wind clockwise. So I can get the winding up to speed immediately. The steel bracelet is very nice polished and brushed, and this is a "Dive" watch, good to 200 meters (If you remember to screw down the crown), but not really recommended for real diving. Water sports, snorkeling. Orient makes a Ray watch. It has bars for indices, whereas this watch, the Mako II, has numbers at 6, 9, and 12. Date and day at 3 o'clock. Easy to set. I bought this from Long Island Watch as opposed to buying from Long Island via Amazon, because the blues showed up after a long absence, and Amazon didn't have them. Charge the watch face with a strong light, and it glows nicely in the dark. Very good one-direction bezel. Nuff said. Highly recommended. Snatch up one of these blue ones while you can.

Beautiful watch and crazy-good accuracy!
I expected to like this watch, but pictures don't do the dial justice. The sunburst effect is pretty great. Plus, the Pepsi color configuration is spot-on sharp. Orient has done a great job with the details here. What's truly amazing is that after 5 days of wearing, it's only running +9 sec. Not per day, +9 sec total in 5 days. What's even more interesting is that most of that gain happened in the first 2 days. Since then, it has settled in and has been at +9 for 2 straight days! I've seen certified Rolex and Omega watches that didn't do remotely that well. Phenomenal accuracy at this price point.Like others have said, the stainless bracelet is the weakest part of the watch. I think it looks decent for the price, but the hollow end links sort of diminish the experience. I swapped it out for a navy/red striped NATO and it really pops now. So far, I very happy with my purchase.

Watch is on point!
First metal band watch that fits me perfectly. I have a medium size wrist (6.75”), so I had to remove two pieces. I removed them with a small paper clip and with my pocket knife (to push pins back in). The watch gives you three additional settings for minor adjustments (see pic). The watch itself is perfect. I find myself using the bezel quite often to keep track of time. I have gotten many compliments and has elevated my appearance on dates, shooting range, school, work, strip clubs, tobacco shop, and pretty much anywhere I go. I highly recommend this watch to anyone who wants to up their watch game.

Love at first sight
Once in a blue moon you receive a product that just exceeds your expectations, and this happened a few hours ago.The Orient Mako ii Black just arrived to me in UK from USA 5 days early.- It looks just stunning; the bracelet is quality - amazing.- The weight is really comfortable - you know it's there but in a reassuring kind of way.- The crown is small and screwing it out first time was difficult. The crown guard covers most of it so there's very little surface to grab so you end up digging in with your thumbnails.- The 3 positions, for winding, date setting and time setting are very close together.- Lume is not in the same league as Seiko 5, but you get hacking and manual wind and a better bracelet. Bezel is tight and a tiny bit to the right of centre at 12 but you're forgiven. The rest of the review just gives advice on setting it up first time.To adjust bracelet, push the pins out IN THE DIRECTION of the arrow. I needed 2 links removed so took one from each side, so the clasp stays central. A .5mm clutch pencil is the perfect size.If you're going to hand wind it (I needed to get mine going) just give it a few turns, because if you think you're in the date position and give it a turn you might wind it more than you should. Then pull the crown all the way out and set time to 6 o clock (so you don't damage the movement setting the date). Then push it in one click and set the day/date to yesterday or 2 days ago. Then fix the date by changing the time. Go a minute or 2 past, pusk the crown in 1 step to let the seconds get to 12. Pull out again and wait for time.is to catch up with you and push the crown in bang on time. The watch is adorable – just get it and stare!

No complaints! I love it
Better than I ever imagined! The picture makes the watch look much bigger than it actually is, and since I have a thin wrist I was worried that this watch would look too big for my wrist - however, I was pleasantly surprised. The finishing of all aspects of the watch is superb. The watch box is also much better than I initially thought after seeing images of it online - this was also much smaller than it appears on images, but feels very nice quality. The watch is (so far) keeping perfect time. I will keep track of this, however, I am not too worried about it as the watch itself is less than £150!You will not be disappointed!

Get on of these beauties NOW!
You are mad if you don't have one of these watches - they look great - I have put mine on a blue and red stripe nato strap it looks incredible. It keeps good time - mine was 13 seconds a day fast out of the box - but I have regulated it - its really easy - now it's 2 seconds a day - that's better than most Swiss top end brands.I am so pleased with this watch - don't think twice just get one.

Great value desk diver
Fantastic watch, having very small wrists I was put off by the 41.5mm case size, but it feels and looks smaller on the wrist than some 40mm watches I own.Haven't had the time (ha) to check the accuracy, but reviews online seem to suggest the F6922 calibre is pretty reliable. Good amount of lume is always welcome. Love the Pepsi Bezel, and the dial and bezel are a deep royal blue. Solid end links so no unwelcome rattle. Came complete in the Proper Orient box with paperwork.Ordered via Amazon US store to the UK. Delivered within 3 days, very pleased with that.

Very Smart
It took just over 5 weeks to arrive from Amazon US but it was worth the wait. It will never see water on my wrist so this is more about the look and it achieves a perfect balance of size:weight. The colour of the face looks great in the sunlight and the brushed steel strap is high quality. It doesn’t have a ceramic bezel and the seconds hand does not have lume on the pointer, but neither are an issue for me. Negatives? The bezel is quite hard to rotate as it is hard to grip but I will never use it anyway. Not yet tested for accuracy.Addendum re accuracy - it was gaining at least 10 secs per day, which was a bit disappointing compared to my other super accurate automatics, albeit costing a lot more. The movement is adjustable internally with care and I did it by trial and error rather than using an App - it is now down to a couple of seconds (now slow) per day. A tiny adjustment = a big swing in accuracy so patience and care required if you are brave enough to try it. I have read that small adjustments can be made by storing overnight with case vertical if running fast, face flat if running a few secs slow.Great watch with lots of character.
