Masters of Crime: Rapture

Loved the game! I love the creators of all these games!

Where to even begin with this bold and clever escape-room-in-a-box? In "Rapture", you are a cartel leader on the island of Cubaidos trying to get ahead of the local police in investigating some shady circumstances that could impact your "business." For those new to the genre: not everything is as it seems, and REVISITING past clues and materials will open new forks you may have missed along the path. For those that enjoy true crime documentaries/podcasts (which my partner and I are suckers for), this game was a lot of fun to theorize, speculate, and unravel in. My partner and I slowly ramped up interest as the game progressed, and we appreciated how rewarding the game was for attention to detail. What was very impressive to an escape room enthusiast like myself was the game's ending and the potential replayability of the game. If you DO want multiple playthroughs of the game, I recommend being careful with opening the sealed envelopes, and use pencil and eraser when making notes (we were ballsy enough to do everything through pen, Sharpies, and pencil). However, for most players, once you get through the story, that may be enough that a second playthrough is not as attractive. (Of course, this sentiment may be different depending on personal preference) For the cost of the product, there was a lot of bang for our buck! Highly recommend getting it, especially when it's half-off. This game had us diving into getting Vendetta and Shadows, and we'll be inviting my partner's nephews for the next game we play!

My family and I really enjoyed this experience, it took us about 3 hours to complete and we were 1 point away from max score. We never had to ask for a hint. It was a really fun process exploring all the choices and looking for all the hidden hints to solve and explore. There isn't much direction so it's on you to find some really obscure things sometimes or figure out how you want to confront something. The only thing I would change is for a little more quality control (we found some grammar/spelling errors) and a little more direction on choosing locations. Most of the time the scenario flowed but we had one location that offered us a choice involving a character we hadn't met so we didn't know what to do or why we should consider that character as a choice that was mentioned nowhere else this far. Overall 4.5/5 stars, highly recommend, especially on sale!

Fun and engaging murder mystery party. It requires some invested people, but that is true for all of these types of games. It wasn't too adult oriented, but definitely not as playable with our tween kids as some of our other escape-room in a box games. Nice use of different clues and pretty engaging. Too bad you can really only play once. Maybe in a few years we will forget enough and be able to play it again?

a great mystery you can play alone or with friends. i like to play these by myself after my kids go to bed for some *me time* i spent a little over 3 hours over two nights finishing this game. it was fun, i enjoyed it. its a one and done game, but for the current price of a$12.48 i think its a great value for a few hours of fun.

5 of us were doing it at a girls night. It said it was a medium difficulty, but was so involved that it stopped being fun and we packed it up and put it back.

This was a very fun game to play with my husband - I like the level of interactivity that it provided - Not just hide clues around the house, but I can use my phone and find clues online - When I purchased, I thought that I might be able to get away with playing it with our 14-year-old son, but it is definitely for adults; or at least two adult for my teen yet. Enjoyed playing it with my husband, though, definitely a fun date night

Me and my friends love murder mystery games and we have tried out quite a few brands. Some brands are a hit and some are a miss. I’m really impressed with this brand and the setup of how to play. It’s a little more unique than some of the other “name brands”. First of all you have a ton of cards, evidence, and hints to go through. We usually play with a small kids easel but this time it felt like we could’ve used a whole school white board if we had one. The second more unique aspect is that you really get to be a sleuth by using your phone to solve the mystery like using Google Maps, emails, Google searches and other tech applications. This isn’t for the weak or minimally involved because this game took us around 4-5 hours with 4 of us working pretty diligently. We got stuck several times and probably should’ve taken a break and came back to it another day but we were too into it to stop. It was really fun, well worth the value for a group of us to have a game that kept us that interested, and made us use our brains together.
