Hone away
I love this pocket sized stone! It does a tremendous job in little time. I helps produce that mirror polish on my blades. I can throw it in my backpack and hone a blade with a few passes. I highly recommend this quality product. Works with water or oil. Water seems to work a bit better.

Nice, fine grained hard stone
This is a hard stone. It is NOT designed to remove a lot of material but to put the finishing touches (honing) on an already sharp blade. No honing stone is easy to use; tilting the blade just stlightly can wipe out several minutes of carefull honing. But, for its size..... I use it to rehone blades in the shop and field; it fits my pocket and is always there when I need it. For serious work on several blades this isn't a good choice but for rehoning a blade that has become less sharp due to use its wonderful not to have to go back to the shop for the big stones I use there.

For the money, it's a great fine grit stone
It's a small stone, but the results are delivered with this little stone. It's a fine grit that will get you that polished finish that you are after. Another note, the box says 'made in china', though I'm no geologist, but are stone sharpening quarries created equal? Nonetheless, it gets the job done for pocket knives and small blades in general.

Small but well-packed
I knew this was small when I purchased it, but I was still a little surprised by its smallness. It came well packed in a hard plastic case (which I will keep) and includes a a small felt bag with a pull string. I bought this for my Dopp kit, and could have gone a size up (maybe I should have). The stone is good quality, but like others have said...thumb-sized (if you have a small thumb).

Versatile for fine finishing on the field
I use a 3-micron 8000-mesh 9 inch slab for final honing. That's too heavy to be carried out onto the field. Depending on personal sharpening/honing style and preference, this represents an excellent 'third leg' portable solution and substitute beyond coarse/medium fine grit combo. The 2-inch block I received was very smooth, straight and fine so there was no extra concern and need for bringing out the belt grinder to straighten out before use. The 2-inch was more than large enough for my field use with large blades, glad I did not opt for the 4-inch..

Rip off
It was so small they don’t make knives that small that you can actually sharpen with it it was totally misrepresented for being so small it was like an inch by half-inch

Great travel stone!
I bought this stone as a last step before pasted stropping for straight razors. This is a perfect size to throw in your dopp kit for extended travel. If you need to hone a razors final edge on the road this is your ticket. For larger blades I would recommend a larger stone. But for straight razor use it works perfectly fine and produces an immensely fine edge. Very flat as well.

Not only for knives.
I use it to clean my outdoor model train track. Doesn't scratch the rails. This is a polish stone for knife cutting edge, the last stone before a polish rouge & leather strop.
