Easy set-up, fun to use. Secures easily to smooth counter. Sturdy. If cutting big potatoes, they have to be cut in half first, to fit into the chute. It helps to trim the first part by hand, in a way that will allow the fruit or vegetable to sit correctly against the blade for consistent slices. If the produce goes in at an odd angle you might get different, inconsistent shapes. They will all be the same thickness, though. This slicer makes produce prep easy and fun. There is a tub to catch the slices as they come out. It holds a limited (but decent) amount. It is made specifically to fit underneath the slicer. If you need a lot more you could secure it, without the tub, to a smooth glass cutting tray (or similar). The included tub holds about one large, sliced item before it needs emptied or transferred to a dish. One potato, one pear... Blades are sharp. Amazing for scalloped potatoes. Also makes beautiful display of pears for decorative serving along yogurt, salad, cereal. SO many possibilities. It does make produce prep easier, faster, more consistent, beautiful, and texturally pleasing. The thickness of the cut is adjustable. Safe design. Easy to clean.

I sliced potatoes, zucchinis & sweet onion. It was very easy. I quartered the veggies with a knife very easily. Sautéed veggies then topped with a little shredded cheese, 2 eggs over easy and salsa. So very delicious. IMO, for safety, follow instructions to set up. Take care when cleaning the section with the blade. Before rinsing that section set the thickness to the largest setting. Use a a straw cleaning brush to remove any small amounts of veggies that might get in there.

Works really well to slice potatoes

I really like this mandolin slicer, I recently used it to slice potatoes thin for a new recipe. It cut prep time in half,made it a breeze. And the new recipe was awesome. Setup was easy, slicing was super easy and safe, never worried about slicing my fingers and the suction cup feet kept it safe and secure. Cleanup was easy with included cleaning brush, slicer is sturdy sharp, and adjustable. And it also sells at a reasonable price. It was actually fun to use.
