Easy to use and great for chunky soil mixes
Just what I was looking for. Really simple to use — just add water, wait, and it’s ready. I use it to make a chunky houseplant mix and my Hoyas seem to love it. Would happily buy again.

Great substrate for lizards
Great substrate for lizards, I break it in half and hydrate the two halves separately for ease of use, using boiling water to speed up the process. I would recommend three to four packets for a standard size bearded dragon enclosure. For plants, this size husk would be suitable for large plants but is too bulky for small plants in pots.

Bought as a soil additive
Bought this as a soil mix additive for house plants. I usually get the Komodo dragon bedding which is chopped to 10mm chunks. I bought this as a way to buy bulk. It comes in bricks which are surprisingly solid, I assumed I'd be able to crumble it down but was unable to, I popped it in a bucket of water briefly and it soon swelled up and the brick broke apart. It's not bad at all and it does make for a good chunky soil mix, however, the chunks of husk in these bricks are much much bigger than what I'm used to, (some pieces over 50mm) and as this, this substrate might not be appropriate for smaller plants. It'll be fine for my needs but I think will still need some of the smaller chips for my smaller propagations. I found it had little to no odour and holds onto moisture as well as any other coconut husk chippings. If you're an owner of many houseplants and you make your own soil mixes for bulk repotting, then I think overall it's a additive for soil and it's good value for money compared to buying 12L at a time. If your houseplant collection is less extreme, the bulk quantity may not be needed, and the more refined chips might be more beneficial

Nice
This is the first time I‘ve bought this product and did so after becoming interested with having indoor plants to make my conservatory more interesting. These Coco Chips Substrate arrive in a firm brick, it is easy to pull apart, you don’t need much, it just help the potting soil mix I use to be more free draining and of course go a little further. My plants appear to enjoy the more free draining aspect as I had become guilty of overwatering during the winter months.

I use these coco chips to make my own chunky soil mix, and they’re fantastic! The organic coconut adds such a nice, light, airy feel to the soil. It makes watering so much easier — the drainage is perfect, and my plants absolutely love it. I add these chips to almost every plant I repot, whether it’s for orchids, aroids, or just to give my regular houseplants a healthier mix. It’s a simple additive, but it makes such a difference for root health and overall growth. ✅ Why I love it: -Creates the perfect chunky, airy soil mix -Excellent drainage and water flow -Organic coconut = clean and natural -Works for every type of plant I own -Easy way to keep plants happy and thriving ⚠️ Cons: -Honestly none — I’ll keep adding this to every mix I make! If you like customizing your plant soil, this is a must-have. It’s become one of my go-to additives, and I’ll definitely be buying more. 🌱

If you grow plants seriously, you know substrate is not glamorous. It is infrastructure. It is foundation. And bad foundation shows up fast. These coco chips are the good kind. Nice chunky consistency. Not pulverized dust pretending to be structure. The pieces are large enough to create real aeration, but not so oversized that they turn your pot into a bark pile. They hydrate evenly, expand properly, and rinse out clean without that murky runoff you sometimes get with lower grade material. They hold moisture without suffocating roots. Drain well. Mix beautifully with perlite or finer coco if you are dialing in a custom blend. If you run aroids, orchids, or anything that appreciates airflow, this stuff behaves. No weird smell. No excessive fines. No surprise debris. It is not flashy. It is not hyped. It just does what it is supposed to do, which in plant world is high praise. Five stars because good substrate makes everything above it better.
