The Artist's Way Starter Kit

It resonates with me more than anything I have read, and I love the tasks, prompts, reflection questions, and exercises that really make you think! I have written things I didn't know were bothering me, and I feel much more creative. I can see how much I have grown in such a short time. It's not a magical solution by any means, but if you really try it out and really trust in it, you will start seeing what it's like to feel ideas just flow through you when you're ready for them. It shows you how to truly be kind to yourself and trust the process, the path, the journey, for whatever you dream of.

Very enlightening, and worth the effort!

Excellent books. I love the way it is God centered and that creativeness is a gift and comes through Him, The Creator of all. For those who have issue with God, she does suggest you use whatever higher power you believe in. I, myself, believe in God and my savior Jesus. My only negative thing about the journal is that in week 2 of using the it, it has begun to fall apart. I am taping the loose pages in place as I notice them. I had a feeling this might happen from other reviews, but it did not deter me from giving this a go… it just prepared me to expect it and to remedy the issue as it arises. Yes, I recommend this/these books. Note… You really don’t need the journal, just get yourself a notebook or even use loose leaf paper for the morning pages. The journal helped me to just get it started.

The Artist’s Way kit is more than I was expecting. It is a 12-week program, but it offers much more than that; it’s a path to discovering your creative life. I have the kit, which includes the Morning Pages Journal, and I am loving it. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to expand their creativity, learn new skills, or unlock their inner child.

I can't say enough good things about this book and journal combo. A friend and I decided to embark on this journey together and she gifted me this combo. The content is amazing and life-changing. It isn't easy but it is worth it. I wasn't sure if I really needed a journal for the Morning Pages, as I had been using notebooks prior to this but I loved the added reminders of quotes on the pages. I have since bought this combo for others. I highly recommend it!

So far the book is good. The kit is not needed. Get yourself a nice journal and buy the book.

So my initial review got rejected, I think I got too overly personal and definitely too obscene. Though I wish I could edit the one I submitted, because there is no way I want to type all of that again. But maybe less is more anyways. After having it recommended time and again over the years to me, after I had it recommended by three friends I knew in completely different capacities I figured the universe was may trying to tell me something. I didn't take it very seriously for the first couple of weeks until something popped up in the spontaneous writing bit about an issue I thought I'd resolved decades ago. I went back to the beginning, took it as seriously as a graduate class or a big project at work, and worked, and it was a work I enjoyed, and with a pay-off just for me. I learned things about myself, my emotional reactions, where they came from, why they were broken, and also how to fix them, and maybe honed my craft, too, as just a natural outflowing of this, and I usually hate the term, but self-awareness. I am a true believer. This book changed my life in the biggest way imaginable, coming to grips with what a heart-of-my-heart's suicide had left in it's wake, how it was still messing up every single relationship of mine decades after the fact, and also a road-map of how to fix the problem, or rather, how to let it be fixed. I hope this review makes the grade, I could not recommend this book highly enough, and whether looking for some healing, looking to improve your craft as an artist and finding healing anyways (because who doesn't need healing?). And for fellow non-deists, I'd recommend disregarding the negative reviews based solely upon references to God in the book. Like with 12-step groups, a higher power can be absolutely anything (a) outside of yourself, and (b) bigger than yourself. Just pick something, anything, substitute that thing in where-ever the term "God" is used, problem solved. For me "Loving beyond my fear", that ideal, that's my high power. We all have one, it's just a matter of figuring out, or even more simply, just choosing one and rolling with it e.g. the universe, nature, the sky, the earth, the laws of physics, love, whatever, y'know? This isn't rocket surgery for people in recovery, but I guess there could be some better explanation of this in the book itself, but that is a speck in the ointment for how much this has to gift to any artist out there.

These just arrived today, and I'm so glad to have purchased them. They came earlier than expected. I started reading the Morning Pages journal right away, and plan on doing both morning pages and the 12-step program in The Artist's Way. This is among my most satisfying purchases.

This book, aimed to low-self esteemed creators, offers an evangelical-quacker perspective on semi-creative fake journeys. This “author” names unverified “success” cases that only work as a marketing tool for the gullible. The internalized homophobia is on every chapter. Horrible. If you want something like this for free just go google a mormon pastor and you’ll be receiving the exact same information. What an expensive joke this is. Returned.

Awesome purchase!!! Priceless

I am grateful to have found this book. I am in week 9 of the 12 week course of this self development book for anyone creative. It has helped me through the last lockdown and my creative ideas and thoughts have expanded each week beyond my expectations. I have found my focus, my motivation and my creative energy to enjoy my textile art again. No longer do I CRAVE others to give me the positive feedback I needed. It has been challenging to do and I do not follow Julia’s religious beliefs so do not be put off by her use of them. So I am so pleased that I have successfully worked through and around all my barriers and still been true to my own belief. Good luck and enjoy your own journey.
