We have a ramp in the garage and this railing is flexible with the angles, so it worked well coming down the ramp. I wish I had a rail about 2' longer. But this shorter one will do the job.They give you screw down options. So you can get the best secured attachment with where you are screwing it in.While this rail was exactly what we needed for the ramp, I do not think I'd use it in an area that didn't require a flexible rail, due to the looks. (It looks nice and is sturdy, but it's in pieces.) The price is fantastic! I was going to make my own and it would have cost me so much more! This was simple and the outcome on the ramp could not have been better! We're very pleased with how firm and solid it is.
