Interesting and Versatile way to Carry a Quick Charging and Data Transfer Cable
The media could not be loaded. I'm a huge fan of Alpaka products. I have a couple pouches and slings. I wanted to try out the lanyard because I think it's a convenient way to carry around a USB cable without having to pack it away in your bag or pocket. It charges really fast. My phone went from under 20% to full in about an hour. Data transfer was also very quick. You can tell this is a high quality cable. The outside has the braided cable feel, but it's not very rough. Still, I would prefer to wear it over a collar and not directly on my skin. At least not for an extended period. One thing to consider is that the cable cannot be removed from the piece that has the female end of the HUB system. Luckily the cable is three feet long so it's still easy to connect your device to your laptop or charger. If you have the male or keychain end of the HUB you can use the lanyard to hold your keys or your car's key fob. But I think the best use for the lanyard (beside charging and data transfer) is to combine it with the HUB Cardholder. That way you can hold your work ID around your neck but also have a USB cable easily available.I recommend it for the quality of the cable, the versatility of the HUB system and the good reputation of the Alpaka brand. I took off one star because it can be considered a bit pricey and it would be much more useful if it included the male part of the HUB with the keychain part.

Some issues after using
The cable is neither comfortable nor adjustable (which was known but turned out to be problematic when using it). Another thing I didn't like was that you are not able to swap out the cable for something else. It is exactly as described however.

Works Really Well!
Works great paired with the ALPAKA ID holder. Simple design and looks clean.

Great idea, not as practical as it seems
This is a unique part of the HUB system from Alpaka which has some good ideas. The USB-C to USB-C cable is very sturdy, it is not floppy and has some memory. The total length of the cord is about 36 inches but s it is designed, it makes about an 18 inch lanyard. The lanyard itself is adjustable only from the snap closure at the base. The cable is not removable from the snap closure. It works fine as a lanyard but honestly isn't very practical as the cable is stiff and doesn't really lay properly. It is a really good built in cable organizer and allows you to charge a phone from a battery backup while keeping control of the slack and clipping it to something some the cable does not get snagged or ripped out. At the price point, it is disappointing that this isn't a complete HUB unit, it is only half a unit. This means in order to use this keeper, you need to purchase at least a keychain or another attachment. This makes this a very expensive cord keeper that isn't really functional by itself. The other HUB units like the clip on keychain or the quick release keyring are really cool and functional, but this one on its own is not.

It does its job
and the cables are better than other non-OEM cables. But $35 is a bit much.

Should include the keychain
I understand this was designed to work with their card carrier, but it would've been nice to include their basic hub keychain to get a buyer started. Especially at it's current $35 price.

Convenient but not adjustable
It’s definitely the most convenient lanyard I’ve ever owned. The magnetic release is far useful than a clunky retractable cord. You always have a usb-c cable at hand, and the cord is pretty sturdy looking. The downside being that the cord is not adjustable, you can’t pin anything to it (not a huge loss here), and it’s not a breakaway or quick release lanyard (safety). I highly recommend this system if you’re heading to a conference or a large event. I would not recommend it if your working with machinery of any sort, areas where a lanyard can get caught (like a door knob or hooks) or work with potentially violent people because it does not have a breakaway/quick release system. You are at a high risk of getting your neck choked up by machinery, hooks or by people. Just something to keep in mind. There may be a certain amount of force that breaks the cord out of the pined cover, but by my hands it seems to be too much to feel safe at my job so I keep this in my travel bag for events and conferences. Hope this was useful👍, cheers 🍻!
