Q: Would this control my tv... as my tv's IR sensor is not responding to any remote and is probably broken

All this does is repeat the signal it receives and Re-transmits it at the other end of the wire. Great for reaching it sensors in difficult place but won’t fix your telly if it’s broken

Q: Can the light the receiver emits be covered up somehow, to eliminate/reduce the glare, and still have the unit work?

Yeah, this is something I have messed around with but got used to in the end! It's an infra-red sensor so you could cover it with something like gauze medical tape and the IR would still get through. Two things though...1. the gauze will just reduce the red light (which is a saftey feature to remind you that the box you have it connected to is still on; even in stand-by mode, the box uses power, creates heat and is a live device). 2. the gauze will reduce the effective range of your remote, so you may get the impression that the batteries are going in your remote! One option could be to move the receiver slightly out of your line of sight to the TV so it's not directly visible...still there, but less annoying. Maybe that and the gauze could be enough?

Q: My Sharp TV uses RF, not IR. If I plug one of these into TV will it allow TV to be controlled with IF remote?

It's an infra-red receiver, so no. You'd need to change your RF remote control to an IR remote, but that looks like a cheaper option to buying an rf remote extender.

Q: Does this work with sky?

It won't work with Sky Q, as that doesn't use IR.
