Quick and efficient swaps and no color cast.
Love the ability to magnetically attach on the fly, especially in dynamic lighting situations. I wish they made something like this for a full size matte box!

Warning: Solid Performance, Fragile Fit
This magnetic lens from SmallRig is really good — great functionality overall. I’m giving it 4 stars because it feels a bit fragile. You have to be careful when attaching it to your cage since it doesn’t lock in very securely and could fall off if not handled properly.

Great quality VND at a great price
First, a note - this magnetic mounted filter is designed to work exclusively with SmallRig’s FilMov case system. If you are looking for a general purpose VND filter, keep looking. But if you are looking for great neutral VND with no cross pattern to add to your FilMov case - it doesn’t get much better than this. This system should make any budding filmmaker happy!

Great filter, limited use
I got this filter to use with my 52 mm filter holders that go on a phone cage. But it won’t work. I think this only works with a specific phone adapter, the Smallrig one. Unlike other magnetic filters that also have threads in case you don’t have the adapter, this does not have auxiliary threads and it will not allow you to attach it to a regular 52 mm holder. Even though the product was described as a “kit”, it says on the box, it’s not a kit, and it’s just the single variable filter. so you will already need a Smallrig phone adapter. From what I can tell this will not work with the other magnetic adapters and it will not work with a standard 52 mm photographic thread. This is a little disappointing as the filter is very nice. So if you already have the small rig magnetic system you can use it on your phone. But if you’re looking to use it with the phone/camera cages that already come with filter holders, this is likely not going to fit. I’m willing to chalk this up to user error. I didn’t read the fine print. I’m used to photographic accessory‘s being relatively universal, but this one is not.

Yikes
wanted to like this and could not. adjusting the vnd is a headache. the entire filter moves causing for color changes in image and inability to properly use the filter. the magnet is strong, but they have to figure out how to make the adjustment work so that you can film without that anxiety.

Perfect for reducing glare on cars, glass, and water.
Works perfectly with the SmallRig cage for iPhone 15 Pro (when using the correct adapter) and the results were better than I anticipated. I shoot a lot of mid-day auto racing and this filter solved all the problems I was having with glare and reflections. Adjustable so you can dial in just the right amount of glare reduction and bring out the colors of the objects you are shooting. I also noticed my video tracking shots of cars in motion were much improved as the ND filter allows some motion blur in the background while the cars stay sharp.

There is something very weird about this ND filter, it makes the sky look dark blue! How is this possible? Must be the polarizing disks!
