I am amazed how close this camera comes to Gopro Hero for a third of the price.
I ride a motorcycle and have purchased four video cameras over the last couple of years. I have s Sony HDRAS300, a Yi 4k (don't make that one anymore), a Gopro Black 7 (which is white), and the Akaso V50 Pro. I bought the Akaso to stick on my drones because the included cameras on the drones have no image stabilization. I did not want to use my other three cams because they are expensive and I have crashed several drones. I have no use for the Sony as I cannot get it mounted on my helmet like I want, so I basically use the Yi and Gopro for my motorcycle videos. I mounted the Akaso on my Xero drone and crashed it. The drone is done for but the Akaso survived. The last ride I took, I put my Akaso on my helmet and gave it a try to use as a backup on my rides in case something happens to my Gopro while I am on the road. I am amazed, I mean really amazed at the video. The Akaso colors are as vibrant and the Gopro and more so than the Yi. Also the stabilization is fine mounted on my helmet. I plugged it in to a usb port on my handlebar and it ran for a couple of hours straight from my motorcycle battery. The only limitation is the size of the micro sd card which is 64 MB. The Gopro can handle 128 MB which allows me to ride and forget about running out of space and it will also run off my motorcycle battery. The Akaso cannot match the Gopro apples to apples at 1080p which is what I record in but the Akaso can match the Gopro at 1080p if the Akaso is set to 4k which is really not 4k as I understand from other people reviewing on Youtube. However, both the Akaso at "4k" and the Gopro at 1080p have about the same file size. The Gopro makes a 17:38 minute file size at 3.90 GB for 1080p. The Akaso makes s 17:33 minute file at 3.87 file size. I cannot speak for other activities like snowboarding or surfing or stuff I don't do that may overcome the image stabilization, but the Akaso is fine mounted on my helmet. I paid about $119 for the Akaso and a mounting kit and about double that for the Gopro Black 7...never buy the current Gopro model as it is way overpriced. I am not a paid reviewer and I don't get stuff from the manufacturer or anything like that...I buy my own stuff and try it out to see if it meets my needs. My opinion is as follows: The Sony is a good camera but way overpriced because it has limited mounting options or either they are a pain. The Yi is almost as good as the Gopro as it has solid image stabilization and crisp video, but the colors a not as vibrant, and it cost me about as much as the Gopro 7. I cannot find the Yi selling anywhere reputable anymore. I bought the Gopro because most videos on Youtube use it. I got the 7 after the 8 had been out for quite a while, and the 7 was discounted a lot. The 7 is a great camera, and I cannot see getting an 8 as great is enough and better than great is a waste of money. The Akaso V50 Pro is a fine, fine camera for the price you pay. If you can afford a Hero 7 then get that as it lives up to its reputation, but otherwise the Akaso is the better value because double the price does not really get you much more. One last thing...I did have to contact Gopro support as the Gopro started having an issue with stuttering video after I did a firmware update. Tech support had me reset the unit, and that fixed it. However now it will only turn off if I give it the verbal command to do so...it will not turn off with the button. It is a good camera but the sofware is not good. No such problems with my other three cameras. They are rock solid.

Very good value for the money (updated 3-2-25)
Great deal for the money! Everything seems to work great. Came with some fun accessories too. Crisp pictures and video, easy to choose resolution. Audio is what you'd expect. Not too heavy, nice and lightweight and small for my pocket. Excited to get out and use it more! Update: had to replace the initial purchase due to sound errors. They replaced it immediately! Amazing assistance, great customer service, and they even have giveaways! Monthly! All in all, great company with amazing products. The V50 Pro helped introduce me to this type of camera and all they are capable of. 10/10 will buy from Akaso again! ^__^

Great Action Camera for the Average User
Context: I want to do some ultra hikes this summer and was reading a blog who attached a GoPro to their backpack using time interval photos. That sounded like a great idea but the GoPro was way too pricey and the lower tier models you can’t change the batteries. That led me around the reviews and blogs for action cameras. I had picked up the CamPark x90 first but returned it. I settled on the Akaso V50 Pro. It’s got a lot for the money. I paired it with one of those Chinese adapter bundles for the backpack clip. The camera itself is tiny, 2 button function with a waterproof case, 2 batteries, and several adapters. I wish the battery power lasted just a tad longer. Over the last month and half I’ve used it on 3 test hikes all about 10 miles each, 2 dives, 1 beach day and 1 fun hike in a tropical location. I read reviews to change the angle from super wide to wide but found for my particular situation super wide looks best when I get a clean shot. The results are mixed. Because I’m moving 2-3mph the photos are easily blurred. I set up time interval shots every 3 or 10 seconds. 3 is just way too many and drains the battery in the area of 1.5hr. I could see moving to 10-15s next hike. I found the photos blur with medium light and movement easily. If there is a scene you want, stopping to get the photo will work best. Easier than removing my mirrorless camera every time. First 3 hikes I took between 1200-1800 and kept maybe 30 each. Scenery wasn’t the most picturesque, mostly woodlands in the Shenandoah NP. The photo interval in a tropical area was concerning. Moisture quickly filled the inside of the waterproof case so I don’t know how well it really is sealed for long term diving. Both micro sd cards and the camera itself were dry. I recall a small drop of water on the case when cleaning it back at the dive shop. There is probably some genuine risk as other reviewers have noticed that the case is not the best for diving and over time will leak. Maybe shallower dives around 10-15m would be better. With that said, the red filter made the quality of the video under water pretty awesome. My dive instructor and I both took videos, his is much more smoother to watch and I’m happy with the results. The beach day photos came out great and we used it in the water as well, shoulder depth. The moisture had cleared by the time we got there. Can’t remember if it was any where in the user manual. After water activities, rinse in cold water and let device/case air dry if you can as a precaution Overall, I’d say it’s 3.5-4 star for the price and product. If it continues to work as such with no defects and survives 2-3 dives a year I’d say an even 4. The GoPro really wasn’t an option. Have another hike in VT late spring and hope it will work as planned. If it can’t, may have to reconsider but the battery life and image stabilization could still be a problem.

Life is very unpredictable and we do not know what is going to happen next. The product was delivered on time. It is an excellent product though I am writing this review after receiving the product only on 21st Oct 2018. The video quality is very good. We have not tried it under water. Works very well under low light. The product is simply great compared to the price you pay. The many accessories that came with the product include a water resistant case and two batteries. Hence you will not run out of power in remote locations. Works very well with a sandisk 32gb card though tge support document says it supports 64gb. Overall an excellent product. The service is also very prompt. Since we had some issues in getting sound we just sent them a mail seeking support. The answer came promptly with solution and it worked in a jiffy. It works excellent with iSmart Pro+ to be downloaded from play store. It is definitely better than most costly iriduct available in Indian market which cones without any accessories or second battery.

Actually if I do have a choice to give it below one star I would do that, the first time to be used was during snorkeling, after exactly 3 photo shots it started misbehaving, pressing the shutter button doing something else and suddenly started to give white flashing screen and shut off, although the camera was inside the protecting case. I changed the battery but nothing changed. It is not very cheap nor expensive but gave zero durability, zero efficiency. I wouldn't advice at all anyone to buy such a camera or such a brand. I was trusting items fulfilled and sold by Amazon but this very bad experience with amazon.sa made me reconsider.
