Bereolaesque...the definition of Pleasantries
This book is unlike any that I have ever read. Its the epitome of what Enitan Bereola is...its simple, yet sophisticated, smooth, and not above your head in it's diction. It was an extremely easy yet enjoyable read for anyone. If reading isn't your thing don't let the lengthy subtitle fool you...its not a drone to read by any means. It is filled with a plethora of amazing information for men of all ages on everything from style, to manners and etiquette(which sadly we are all falling short of these days), to heatlh and how to treat a lady (in my eyes the best part). And ladies please don't think that ,because this is a book titled towards men, it's only for men. There is a lot of information for the ladies as well like the art of wine and wine tasting and the meaning of different flowers that get sent to you. And it helps you to almost have a guideline of how a gentleman should be. Whether he be all the way Bereolaesque or making an effort to do better this will definitely keep you on the up and up.Overall I would have to give this book as many stars as possible, Amazing read and guideline for being a sophisticated individual. I highly recommend you pick it up and find out for yourself. You definitely wont be disappointed and then you will be able to indulge into the art of the Modern Sophisticate without feeling reservations or intimidations...just sheer "Pleasantries" ;-)

Chivalry, is as dead as you make it out to be! Great book!
If you like holding the door for someone, and seek guidance in improving your character this is a book for you. This is the fastest book I have ever read, because I believe on what he says. If you want to make the world a better place this is a good place to start. I will keep this book and probably review it multiple time over the years. This is the first gentleman's book I read, but he had me rolling on the floor (laughing) on the first couple of pages. I read some of the 1 stars reviews, and from the sounds of them they either "believe" this to be common knowledge, but I believe it to be a loss art of politeness. There is only three thing's I disagree with in the book it's in woman 101 rules 8-10. Todays women are individuals, if they leave and upset with you don't chase them. Let them have their space. If they don't return, Then the relationship wasn't right. This book is about believing something within yourself. When she is gone take a moment and self reflect if needing an apology then do so. I will also read his next book gentlewoman.

Pretty good read.
Definitely a good read for young males 18-30. Even if you already posess some or all of these qualities(which are only limited to a select few), a book like this is still a good reminder to practice them daily. The sharing of knowledge is important, and this is the type of book that can be given as a gift to those who lack the ability to combine their own personal qualities with being a gentleman. It is a reminder that you can still be fly, have taste, and some degree of class whether you're a college student, white/blue collar worker, or hustler. As a matter of fact, the book subliminally and blatantly stresses the importance of combining the two to become the best and most diverse person possible, with a few pointers throughout. My only gripe is that it wasnt long enough! I definitely could used a bit more detail in a few categories. But overall, a great refresher for a current gentleman, and also a good leisure read!

There is Something for Everyone in Here
There are numerous ways to judge a book, and three that stick out for me are the following: good flow, good insight, and good editing. With a topic like this, one where the focus is on enhancing a man and bringing their best qualities to the surface, Bereola not only did all of them, he did them well. The author finds a way to make this book personal in nature, and in a way that men can feel at ease. There is something for every single man, from every single walk of life, to take. You can highlight certain attributes of your personality and still retain the person that you are, and that is something he explains, reinforces, and encourages throughout the book. For example, if you're a wine taster, there's something for you. If you are the type to buy flowers for your lady of interest, there's something for you. If you're the type who likes to experiment with your appearance, there is something for you. If you're a "manly man," and are set in your ways (which isn't totally a bad thing), he provides insight to how you can enhance your person and still have that edge that makes you a manly man. If you're a cigar lover, there's something for you. If you're a globetrotter, there's something for you. For a man who feels they have all the tools, there's still something for you; if nothing else, just to know there is someone who has insight, and can approach a situation differently can serve as another tool to add to your arsenal.Honestly, this is something I recommend for middle-school boys, high school kids, college men, post-college men, old-school men, fathers; basically, any kind of man there is. It will not only enhance the lives of others around you, it will, most importantly, enhance the life of the person who directly is taking it in. The author's editor also did a solid job and should be commended; for some people, editing isn't a big deal, but with a book of this nature, which can be seen as self-help, motivational, character-building, etc; it helps that the author had a person (or people) to make sure the content flowed smoothly. This is a book I wholeheartedly endorse, and encourage others to pick up, and take in, in its entirety.

bereolaesque:
personally this was not the read I was expecting, although it hit on some common values I didn't think I was as informative as it should have been. more over it was a view from the first person rather than a collective view. which would have added more depth to the content. overall not what I would want to pass on to a younger family member asking for a bit of worldly advice.
