That isn't possible.Soft- easy to mold, cut, COMPRESS, or fold; not hard or firm to the touch.The only thing that was nice was the angle of the stretch, at least for the 3 minutes I was able to take the pain.An actual "soft" material and this would have been wonderful.Unfortunately, this isn't cushiony, compressible, malleable or flexible.

I have tried other neck stretchers made out of some sort of foam and were non adjustable and found those very, very uncomfortable. I am on the shorter side with an average size neck length and don't know if that is the problem.Initially, I tried this on the lowest setting and found the little nobs were a bit uncomfortable, but after a few minutes, that discomfort went away. The nobs are pretty hard but, as I said, after a few minutes I didn't even feel them so don't give up on that aspect right away. There is a little instruction manual and they recommend using 5-10 minutes. I did fiddle with the height adjuster until I found a nice position for myself. I would recommend going up slowly over several days/weeks to find the best position for you. Besides the occasional stiff neck/shoulders, I don't have any real issues with my neck but found this stretcher to be a nice experience.

I have other neck stretchers/traction devices, but thought I would try this would because of the wider base. I found that this one is actually quite uncomfortable. The little rubber nodes are hard. The angle of the neck section is not steep enough, so I don’t get a full stretch that I can feel into my jaw that comes for elongating the neck.Overall, this is just really uncomfortable for me to use.

This is not the manufacturers fault, but this device is not for people with arthritis in their spinous process of the C1 and C2. It encourages the head to tilt back too far and puts too much pressure on the atlas. Which can cause a pretty bad flare up of arthritis pain. Again that is not the manufacturers fault.

This is a big improvement over other portable neck stretchers I've tried! This design resolves issues I've had with others, and works well.I've tried a variety of portable neck stretchers, and the issues I have with most others include:(1) that the height is a bit too high,(2) the sloping portion tends to stop at an awkwark point on my neck/spine, and(3) the stretchers are either (too) hard and/or have nubs that are uncomfortably high.This neck stretcher resolves all 3 of these issues with its unique design.(1) On this one, the height is adjustable using a knob on the bottom (as shown in pics). I prefer it at the lowest height.(2) The sloping portion on this stretcher extends further down my upper back, and fits seamlessly to the floor such that I don't feel any lump at all where it ends.(3) The green rubber acupuncture nubs are firm yet flexible. They are soft enough to provide a cushion, yet don't flatten, and the height of these nubs is more in line with my preferences. I feel each one without experiencing any discomfort, and they hit the right spots on the base of my skull to provide headache relief.This is an EXCELLENT portable neck stretcher/headache relief device! FINALLY, SOMEONE GOT IT RIGHT!!
