Another Great Disco Album Worth Buying
My 4th album of the series and this on what I found out to be a rare album to get apparently its been deleted off the Hed Kandi roster so if you see it and are collecting the series like me GRAB IT.Anyways after absolutly loving the Hed Kandi (2006) Enhanced album to pieces and getting into the groove on Disco Kandi 5 & Disco Kandi 05.03. I was looking forward to yet another great CD that is Disco Kandi 05.04 and again Mark Doyle does it with some fantastic summer anthems and up coming winter chills for that year to the likes of classic artists such as Armand Van Helden to Basement Jaxx keep the album at the right spot. I must admit it's definatly a mix betweet Disco Heaven & Twisted Disco's compliation varing from 2 so 1 has to ask should it be classed a Disco Kandi album and I say it's very good it brings funky tracks then will slow it down for a bit to some basey disco then back up when you don't expect it.I do give it 4 stars thou because of this my other albums seem a lot more funky house really high energy tracks where as this does do the same but it just sometimes dosn't hit the spot like say Disco Kandi 2006 but a great album thou.

Can do better
Mark Doyle's label does it again. A real grower this one, but you've got to stick with listening through the the whole of the cd's and not put your favourites on repeat. I've only given it 4 stars because there are more fillers than, say world series - the last edition. The highlights are Saturated Soul's Got to release, which features Eddie Amador's touch and you just know it's going to be good. Also Chlorophilia Put a little love, the great Armand van Helden's My my my, and Funkstar Deluxe's When I think of you. There are other great track's like Feels so good which features the Jungle Brothers and Love the way you move by I-Jah stands out. It's after you get past the remixes of 'classic tracks' like Last night a dj saved my life and Basement Jaxx' Good luck that it starts to feel a bit padded.Still head and shoulders above the 'Deechay Semmy' style of 'dance music' but Hed Kandi's cutting edge feels a little blunt and needs to sharpen up again. Try Shapeshifter's House Grooves for a slight change, but stick with this one, it's worth it.

Not The Usual Kandi Standard
First and foremost, I would like to say that I am a religious purchaser of Kandi Releases and I don't doubt the amount of effort gone into their albums but the quality on this one isn't great. Some of the tracks on disc one stink of cheese. For instance, Funkstar Deluxe & Laurent Wolf, and then there are some crackers from Saturated Soul, The Brand New Heavies & I-jah. The theme of the first disc is very latin and summery but the tunes in general aren't of the high standard that you would expect.Disc two is definitely more Twisted Disco than Disco Kandi. But it's still better than disc one. Standout tunes come from King Britt, Soul Central, Armand van Helden & Haji and Emanuel.Don't dismiss this Kandi release. It's still worth a look but it's not as good as I expected. Three stars.

Quality (or should that be kwality?) from the Kandi Krew!
It never ceases to amaze me just how good each Kandi album manages to be. I'm always waiting for the bubble to burst but it just keeps getting bigger and better! Needless to say I toally love this album, being a veteran Kandi hed I'd like to think I know what I'm talking about by now and this album is definitely on the same level as past Disco Kandi albums. Notable tracks for me are:I'm a good man - Martin Solveig (great opener, nod to James Brown)Felicidad - Mambana (Latin house time!)Clorophilla - Stonebridge (more latino style)Boogie - The Brand new heavies (funkyness at it best!)Solaris - DJ Gregory (Cool, deep instrumental)Strange transmissions - Peter Malick (My fave track on this album, I've listened to it about fifty times already! Beautiful vocals by Norah Jones)I can't wait - King Britt (Great cover of a classic 80's anthem)Last night a DJ saved my life - Seamus Haji (see above!)Nasty Girl - Inaya Day (would normally expect to hear something like this on one of the twisted disco slbums but it works just as well here, kool (nasty!) tune)Some people may think if they've got any of the other Disco albums (heaven, twisted) it may not be worth getting this one but believe me it is. The Disco Kandi albums seem to fit neatly into the gap between the heaven albums and the twisted ones and complement them perfectly. Alternatively if Disco Heaven is too uplifting for you (???) and Twisted Disco is to dark and dirty for you then Disco Kandi should satisfy your funky needs.Lastly if you have no idea who or what Hed Kandi and Disco Kandi are and cam across this page by mistake then let me say one thing to you...GO OUT AND BUY THIS ALBUM ANYWAY!My work here is done...

Good ol days!
I was suspicious of this release after reading the other reviews. I have high expectations of the Disco Kandi releases especially and I've just listened to it and this Kandi cd is FANTASTIC.Perhaps it is because I pine for the early releases which warm the cockles, and this cd reeks of the earlier Kandi compilations, but I ADORE this.Best parts are:ALL OF IT (Brand new heavies/ Stonebridge/ Seamus Haji/ Mousse T remix)This is what disco house is, and what Kandi do so well. House music has had poor press of late, and to be honest there hasn't been that much good quality disco house, but my feeling is that this release is the beginning of a new rise in quality disco house.
