First off I do want to mention I received this product as a gift so my review does not factor in price. I have never used a mushroom grow kit before and I am going into this with ZERO research or preparation.So first off the bat, you're going to want to make sure you have a food-grade container to hold enough water that will soak this log. It's about the size of a football, but very lightweight (I'm a small woman with lifting restrictions, I appreciate how light it is). The instructions are very thorough and include some precautions and thoughts about environment for ideal growth. Mushrooms love low light and humidity so keep it out of sunlight and appliances that create dry air (dehumidifers, anything that creates heat). BTW, make sure you cover the log back up with the plastic flaps you made after you water it to help keep the water in and keep stuff humid.If you have a breathing condition you will want to make sure to keep it out of high-traffic areas because like all mushrooms, it's going to release spores. And don't hide it in a room with stale air because it's only going to build up worse.OK last thing, I am going to put a consolidated prep-work list for anyone else coming in with 0 experience:1.) Obtain a large, clean food-safe container of a size that could soak a football sized log2.) Find a location with dim lighting in a low-traffic area which you can access frequently for watering. I am choosing to put an air purifier nearby to contain the spores.3.) Place your order!! (Do not order before steps 1 & 2, the instructions suggest to use the product right away so the strains don't die off)UPDATE 1:Despite running a dehumidifier 24/7 which I was worried would negatively impact the mushrooms, it has been growing incredibly quick. Pic #2 is just 2 days of growth! I am spraying it with water 4 times a day instead of twice a day to compensate.

Shipping and handling was excellent, the product came in good condition and it looks and is excellent as advertised, the instructions of it are very easy but important to follow in order to get the best results.It’s about 3-4 lbs max and a size of a football(almost) so you need a clean container that’s safe for food and consuming food form it, you need it for soaking water first time( it needs to sit in water for 6-10 hours) also a clean undisturbed area moist and indirect sunlight to grow your kit there. Then follow the directions and spray water 4-6 times a day( make sure it always have enough water and fresh air and watch the magic happens😉 what I love about mushrooms and this kit is once it’s ready and you see the first sign of growing, then every few hours it get bigger almost double! I also had few questions and in about 5 minutes they answered and I had everything fixed and in order( I’m not stating a fact about the exact time of responding, could be right away or a little longer but they care and respond, knowing that they are there to help you and they will help you is a great feeling and option you receive, Highly recommend and can’t wait to try more items and grow kits🍄/Garden products from this seller.

Fun & edible Christmas present. My husband loved it. Only got one crop but they were delicious & grew in about a week to 10 days.

Started growing out of the box after sitting unopened in my warm kitchen ×1 weeks, LOL. I will soak and use as directed, and hope it will last. Seems like it will be quite productive for several crops of nice looking oyster mushrooms, without developing a mildewy odor.

OMG! Definitely not worth the effort and the time to have to nurse this disaster. You better off going to a Whole Foods or farmers market that offers oyster mushrooms at five dollars a pound this product was a joke!

only one flush-even tho i folldowed directions about reimmersing it, etc.bland taaste but was only use in chicken-lemon soup-maybe soup flavor was too intense.

Upon receiveing the kit, per instructions I cut an X on the side of the bag and soaked it for about 7 hours. (I only cut one side) I'm growing the kit in a martha tent, so no box. It started fruiting in about 3 days, and they're growing quickly! I'm going to have my first harvest in a few days I think! Received on the 14th, it's the 20th. No contamination at all, it shipped fast, came fully colonized, I'd probably buy again. The price is a bit high, there are other companies offering 5-10lb blocks for about the same price. But still, very nice kit. 66-70F temps, 85-95% humidity, 600-750 CO2 PPM which is ambient in my area, and a COBB led strip on 12hrs a day and also indirect sunlight as well.

We haven’t produced any mushrooms yet (too soon) but the growing vessel is cardboard and obviously is very compromised from being sprayed with water. I wish the box had a plastic lining or was a different material.
