An irreplaceable sleeping aid!
This mattress has been an answer to my prayers. I was desperately trying to find something for me to put on my side of the bed because I am bed bound and have a lot of trouble with circulation, bed sores and pain in my feet but since I have had this mattress I have had none of the above! It is the best nights sleep I have had in so long. I am so thankful. I keep it on 5 for the rotation of the coils.

Uncomfortable bed pad with tubes rather than smooth surface
Hard to soften to eliminate the tubular construction. Picture and description on order sheet looked like a smooth surface.

Excellent Choice: Solid Construction, Very User Friendly, A Must Have for Comfort! Outstanding!
The people at VIVE really provided an excellent product for solid construction, materials and use for ultimate comfort.Their Vive "Original" tube alternating air pressure mattress for a sore prevention solution, such as ulcers, and backpain from injuries, as in my case. This pressure mattress is well constructed cushion, whisper-quiet pump is worth every moment when in bed, and in my case, is simply a must have.It took me a few days to figure out the best pressure for my back damages of 35 years ago. My true comfort came only at the lowest, softness setting (see picture). After days of experimental review, I took the system from all the way to firm, then gradually, all the way over to softness. As the instructions says, the unit will decompress, but give it time to cycle. Be patient. It may take a few nights until you find your comfort setting. My point is, keep experimenting on the pressure best for you. Just let the system go through it's cycles, feel the alternating air-bubbles, that absolutely wonderfully comforting, and you will know once you arrive at your sweet spot: However, if you have a pet that is part of your night sleep, such as our Siamese, be ready to share. What was interesting was every cycle that was too firm, our Siamese would NOT sleep the entire night next to me. Once, I found the best pressure setting, said cat has since, stayed the night. Our animals are more connected to us than we may realize.Last point: Because said mattress pad sets up approximately 3-4 inches above your existing mattress, I highly recommend, doing what we did, to help keep you safe from getting up and down off your bed..We ordered a step. The step we ordered off Amazon is the Indoor/outdoor wooden step, that is 3.5'' in height. They have a beautiful oak finish and is an excellent tool from the people at koretech. Look for my review.I highly recommend said step to help keep you safe from getting up and down off the bed. As you can see in one picture, we ordered the step and it's in place. All materials of construction met or exceeded our expectations. The pump mounts on the side of the bed, and is very quiet. Also, very important to know, for us, we placed the air outlets in the mattress, as the pump, at the foot of the bed. Not at the head: not so quiet if you place said air outlets near your head.Questions, just ask, Amazon will patch you through and one of us will step up to help

Works well, but is hard to use.
This alternating air pressure device works well. However, it's hard to use, especially for someone who is disabled and does not have in-home care and lives alone. It's alright if you set it up in a single spot and leave it, but it can make dealing with cleaning bedding and the like difficult.

Provides comfort when it’s needed most.
I got this alternating air pressure mattress pad to add to the top of a twin xl size hospice bed. It fit perfectly. It even has two 2 ft long flat flaps at each end to tuck under the mattress. Since this is on an adjustable bed, and there are coil springs underneath the mattress. We did not want the excess vinyl to rip or get snagged on the coils so we folded the extra flaps underneath the inflatable pad itself. The relative/patient was already in the hospice adjustable bed when I ordered this. We could not move her off the bed to install the pad. Fear not, it’s easy to get this pad under the sheet with the patient in the bed. We rolled the deflated pad length-wise into a long noodle shape, then lifted the fitted sheet off the corners of the mattress, we rolled the patient with her sheet onto one side, unrolled the pad and tucked the excess rolled pad under her, rolled her the opposite way over the rolled pad where we were able to flatten the pad out under the patient who was on top of the mattress. We re-attached the fitted sheet over the mattress corners, so the inflatable pad is on top of the mattress but under the bed sheet. There is a waterproof pad directly under the patient, so the sheet and inflatable pad is protected. This pad could easily be cleaned off if it got soiled. It would be too hot to lay the person on the vinyl inflatable pad. We hooked it up to the machine which hangs nicely on the headboard of the bed, plugged it into the wall and switched the dial to firm. It filled quickly (less than 10 minutes) with the patient on top of the pad. Later we adjusted the pad’s firmness down. Unfortunately, the patient is elderly and has dementia so they can’t tell us how comfortable it is. It looks way more comfortable than the hospice mattress. There were minimal directions but it was easy to figure out. The machine hooks right onto the bed and it’s very quiet. You barely hear it running, but it’s slowly alternating air to alleviate pressure points and reduce the risk of bedsores. This should help make someone’s final weeks more comfortable and alleviate the pressure on the bed sore area. After we are done with this pad, my 84 year old mom will be able to use it on her adjustable bed. The machine does slightly adjust the air flow through the tubing, though you really can not see it happening. A patch kit was included. Out of the box there was no odor. The outlet plug is not excessively long, only about 5 ft. I highly recommend for Medicare or hospice adjustable beds.

Does not work properly
Inflatable mattress failed or pump got weak, I have a foamatress pad on top of it for my dad and when I went to check it the mattress still holds air but is either leaking or not inflating properly. Lasted maybe a little over a month.
