Great hub for the money! Does everything they say it will if you perform the install correctly.
I have been using Macs personally since 1984 and was a Windows System Administrator for 20 years. I retired from the Windows Admin position and bought a new Mac Mini M2 for personal use. It is the best Mac I ever owned, but like most computers it did not have enough ports, and I needed an external SSD hard drive solution for Time Machine backups. After lots of research, I chose the Qwiizlab USB C Hub. Visually, it is an almost perfect match for the Mini, and saves lots of desk space tucked under the computer. I did stick some additional little rubber feet under the hub to increase the airflow for the hard drives.First it is very important that you purchase the correct hard drives for the enclosure. For one of the slots you need NVMe storage. I found a Western Digital WD - Black SN850X 2TB drive on sale. This drive is fine for backups, but also fast enough to work from if you need to. When you install this drive, do not try to push it straight in, it needs to be held at an angle when inserting. The enclosure has a little rubber clip that holds the drive in place. The other slot is for a SATA SSD drive, which is slower than the NVMe drive. I use this as an archive drive to store older data that I rarely access, but still need. I got a Crucial MX500 2TB, not the best quality drive, but I have that data backed up elsewhere. Something like a Samsung EVO might be a better solution for critical data. This drive can be inserted straight in. The SATA drive will hang unsupported after it is inserted and turned over, so you may need some padding on top of the SATA drive to support it. The Crucial drive included a bezel with adhesive to support the drive. This hub/enclosure comes with screws and a screwdriver to secure the cover plate. To connect the hub, use the short cable and insert it into a Thunderbolt port on the Mini. The hub also comes with a power cable, that is inserted in the port marked power on the hub. The other end can be inserted in the USB port of a phone charger plug. I am using a 2.4 watt charge plug, and this works fine so far. It is important to connect the hub to its own power source, as the 2 drives plus other devices you connect need more power than the hub can get from its Mac connection alone. If you don't, you may get a disconnect error from the external drives after your Mini goes into sleep mode. So far, the drives are working correctly with no disconnect errors.Once you install the drives, and connect the hub to the Mini and to power, you may get an error message that the Mac cannot read the drives. This is normal! The drives might be formatted with a file system the Mac can't read. Open the Mac Disk Utility, select the drive and click Erase from the top menu. Reformat the drive as APFS, and the Mac will be able to read it and do Time Machine backups. I ran a backup of 500 GB of data to the WD Black NVMe drive that took less than 15 minutes. With everything setup as I have described, this hub and hard drive enclosure works perfectly! Qwiizlab has done a very good job creating a product that looks nice, saves space and serves a both a hub and hard drive enclosure. The setup of this device can be challenging for a novice, and this probably explains most of the negative reviews of the product. There are many things a newbie can do incorrectly that will prevent one or more features from working. That said, I am curious to see how the Qwiizlab performs over the long haul. In my experience, 3rd party hard drive enclosures have a higher failure rate than OEM equipment. The good thing is that as long as you get high quality hard drives, you can recover from the failure of the enclosure hardware by removing the drives and inserting them in a new enclosure without losing any data. I will try to post an update to this review after using the device for a while.

Faster than others!
I've now had a few of these, All are worth having if you have a Mac mini or Studio! Giving my last one to my mother so after a few reviews I decided to try this Qwiz model. SO glad I did! Read Writes are at least a 1/3 faster using Blackmagic Disc Speed Test, and VERY noticeable in real world application. Some of the others I have tried are more expensive and not as fast. It's able to install 2 drives not just one!!!!Packaging was rather nice also, a step above the others.small notes making it not 5 star-1- extra cable for power, if you can, replace the power cable with a longer one and run it back to a USB plug/powerstrip or what ever, loosing a USB socket on the Mac is annoying!2 - Come with pads for the SATA but not real instructions. why, so make sure you use them on the drive to keep it in ( I knew this, but can see someone not knowledgeable not knowing)3 - seems 1/2 way decent made, but the drive door was a tad flimsy and didn't line up perfect to the screws. easy for me to fix but will likely annoy others. The Door does snap into place solidly though! All in all, it's a very nice Hub/Drive enclosure! If looking to clean up your desk and add a hub to a Mac mini/Studio, I can highly recommend this one, Though, I haven' had it long so longevity hasn't been tested.

Excellent hub that doesn't need extra room
Seeing I have a 2018 Mac mini, this was the only hub I could find in this form that was compatible with an older mini. The hub actually keeps the Mac mini a bit cooler with air able to flow between the 2 devices. I was able to add a SSD without issue to the hub, connect it, and format the drive with ease. The only con is I wish it came with more USB-C, but other than that, this has been an excellent investment.

Great addition to my MAC Mini
I was looking at other docs for my Mac Mini, but love the option of having additional drives added. This thing has been amazing so far now issues and works like a champ. I have an SSD and NVME drive added to test how these work everything is working as expected. I love the option of having the SD Card and extra USB port on the front so I don't have to reach around or move the Mini around. I would say be careful when removing a micro SD Hard. I removed one the other day and the spring to eject was very strong and show the micro SD card across the room. I still have not located that thing, I am sure the vacuum will pick it up soon.

Piece of Garbage - Non-existent customer support
I was stuck between buying the similar Satechi dock vs this Qwizzlab dock, they are very similar aside from the fact that this product allows you to mount both a NVMe and a 2.5 inch SATA SSD at the same time.Given the flexibility of the two drives for the Qwizzlab dock, I opted to go with this product.I looked at all the reviews regarding concerns about the high pitched hum, and also having recurrent disconnects of the mounted drives without a sufficient external power source of a minimum of 20 W. I bought the Anker A2673 charging block to provide the minimum indicated in the product description.Right from the beginning, I experienced the high pitched hum coming from the dock. I isolated all other peripherals and can confirm that the hum came from this product. After 2-3 weeks of use, the high pitched hum finally stopped.... along with all the functions of the dock. The dock wouldn't mount the NVMe M2 SSD that was previously was working fine. It wouldn't recognize any USB plugged in peripherals. Hell, it couldn't even pass through a trickle change to my iPhone. It was essentially a brick after 3 weeks of use. I can see that it is powered on via front LED light, but it does not function at all.I reached out to Qwizzlab for troubleshooting/replacement several times, but received no response. Their website's product support chat is a programmed chatbot that goes nowhere. There is no customer support, and I would not expect any.I threatened to post a negative review with no response, so here I am. You will be paying a good chunk of money for an absolute piece of garbage, that can't even act as a paper weight. DO NOT BUY.

Cela me gâche complètement l'expérience !
