Meike 85mm f1.4 FF Z mount lens is great.
This lens arrived well packed in a box padded with foam. It included a hood and two lens caps. As a f1.4 lens, it is nice and fat to let lots of light through to your sensor. At 735g this is not a lightweight lens. This is a full frame lens and works well on DX bodies too as a 127.5 equivalent. The filter thread is 77mm and it will focus at less than a meter. It mounted smoothly. The focus and aperture rings turn easily and then stay where you put them. Autofocus works well and the lens has a button to freeze focus.Though an 85mm lens is generally considered to be great for portrait photography, its usefulness extends way beyond that. My main interest lately has been macros so I wanted to see how this lens would perform with extension rings. Extension rings do not in any way affect image quality, they simply allow for closer focus while making the image on the sensor appear larger. My first test was to take a shot of my shoe while standing. That was good and confirmed that I could focus on anything a meter or more away. Next I added 36mm of extension rings and caused the lens to focus at 9". I went spider and bug hunting and got excellent results. From looking at the sample images I have included you can see the quality, the sharpness, the nice bokeh. Bokeh is enhanced by a 12 blade aperture. With a range from f1.4 to f16 you can fine tune your DoF from razor thin to nice and deep. Most lenses are sharpest a few stops down from wide open, and with a f1.4 lens a couple of stops will put you at f2.8 or f4 for great sharpness and plenty of light with good shallow DoF.For the price this is an excellent lens.

Best 85 mm can buy for the price for the Nikon Z mount
So this lens is a phenomenal buy for the price. You just have to know two things. It’s a portrait lens portrait lenses are not supposed to be super Duper sharp all right that’s supposed to make you look great for portraits and not show too many imperfections pimples bumps on the skin so the sharpest lens of all time not even close is a great portrait lens absolutely it has heft great depth to it as a great ring unless you turn the apps on it smoothly for what you wanna work on video, the sharpening for the lens is not the sharpest in the world. Excuse me not the fastest in the world the sharper the auto focus speed is above average to good most Nikon auto focus. Speeds are exceptionally good to strikingly fast so it has a slower auto focus speed Not the sharpest lens in the world, but you have a 1.4 lens that shoots beautifully with very little chromatic aberration and had a great price. Would I buy this lens? Had I not got to review it no cause I would not expect this lens to be this good…. this lens is that good. If you’re thinking about getting a new 85 mm don’t scroll over this it’s a great artistic lens not the sharpest but a great portrait lens.

Amazing for the price
It is much more than I was expecting for the price, good image quality throughout the frame and smooth bokeh. It is a nice, rather compact build for an f1.4, integrates well into my z5 which detects all the feedback from the lens (aperture ring info, fn button, focus switch, even lens id for profile correction in post). Autofocus works fairly well even in low light/low contrast conditions, no significant vignetting or distorsion. Slight green fringing but expected for the aperture, also slight breathing. I'm really surprised about the quality/price ratio.

nice lens at a good price
My husband just upgraded to the Nikon Z6 mirrorless camera, so he asked for this lens for Christmas. And by "ask," I mean he sent me the link to it a month or so ago and told me this would fit his new camera, lol. It's reasonably priced, and I know he's liked other Meike lenses. It shipped quickly, and I wrapped it before he could see it. Can't wait until Christmas morning!

Definitely worth the price!
A worthy purchase. It’s half-frame so that’s whatever but it has a super smooth aperture ring and can let in lots of light. Has some soft vignetting but I like it.

F1.4 with a good price and decent sharpness
The first impression of the Meike 85mm F1.4 Z prime lens when taking it out of the box is that the lens has some weight to it. Weight-wise, this prime lens weights nearly as much as my 24-70 Z-mount zoom lens – so plenty of glass in this lens (13 elements in 8 groups.) The second thing I noticed is that the lens hood is a bit hard to twist on and off. It does not have press-to-release lock for removal and relies on friction-based mechanisms to hold the lens hood in place. However, there is no chance the hood is going to accidentally rotate or come off when twisted in place.I had no trouble putting the lens on my Z camera; I liked that it was a slightly snugger fit than some of my other Z lenses. You do have to be a bit more precise in aligning the lens with the camera mark when putting it on. Once the lens was mounted, I tried to focus on my dog laying near me. I could not get a focus lock, although the lens would focus on slightly more distant objects. I checked the included instruction sheet, and the minimum focus distance is 0.98 meters, or just over three feet. Once I moved back half-a-step, I could focus on the dog just fine. For comparison, with my Z zoom lens set to 85mm the minimum focal distance is around 15 to 18 inches. On my camera, I have the lens function button programmed as a spot meter. When I pressed the function button on Meike lens, the spot meter activated just like with my other lenses. As far as sharpness is concerned, the Meike lens is not as sharp as my 70-200 zoom lens. I set the 70-200 zoom to 85mm and shot photos at f8.0 and f2.8. I then switched to the Meike 85mm prime lens and shot photos at f8.0, f2.8 and f1.4. For all shots, the ISO was set to 100, auto-focus was used, the camera was mounted on a tripod, the distance from the focal plane to the subject was measured to the same distance for each lens, a timer was used to trip the shutter, and raw, unprocessed images were used for the comparisons. The difference in sharpness was most noticeable in the highlights in the eye of the subject when the photos were greatly enlarged. The sharpness comparison is unfair in that the other lens is almost five times the price of the Meike 85mm, and the Meike does provide reasonably good sharpness.A couple of minor things I noticed -- when not shooting, I hold the camera from the bottom with my finger and thump around the lens. On one occasion when moving my hand, the aperture ring shifted away from the A setting. It would have been nice if the aperture ring was a little stiffer, to reduce chances of it rotating and the shift in f-stop not being noticed. At f1.4, the auto focus sometimes had trouble picking up the focus on objects close to the minimum focal distance. I occasionally had to either focus on something a bit further away and then come back to the subject to achieve focus, or I turned the focus ring to change focus after which the auto-focus picked up the subject. The Meike provides reasonable sharpness and given the price, the f1.4 low-light and bokeh capabilities, I’m very happy with this lens.

Insuperabile come qualità prezzo.

Amazing lens
