A lot of value
For the money, it's a pretty good fly reel. The build quality is really good. The drag is smooth and the tolerance of the build is excellent. I think only the design quality isn't there but that's reflected in the price. What I mean is the way the spool is just flat. It's got the cut outs for water to drain out and for drying out but it's flat. It doesn't really help with line retrieval. The handle is also aluminum, which makes for a solid handle but feels cold. Also a little too much grease. Other than those issues, the reel does provide a lot of value for the price.

I think it’s a great price for what you get. Especially with the fly line, backing and leader.
Haven’t had the opportunity to fish with the reel. But it does look nice. The drag seems to work great. I wanted it mainly for blue gills. I am sure it will exceed my expectations.

It's ok for the price
This reel locks up tight, no slop with the spool. The drag is not so great. It is either locked up or free spool. Fishing this 3\4 reel in small creeks I really don't have a need for too much drag, but wish it had a better one. Also you need to be careful when letting line out or it will somewhat birds nest on you. a couple times I did need to let all of my fly line out and reel back in to fix this issue.

newbie
I have not caught fish with this reel but it cast better than the one I had . Being new to fly fishing my thinking is to step up slowly to better equipment. This reel will serve me well for now . As my skills improve I will spend more money. For this price point 5 stars !

Fantastic reels!
I own 3 of these for different sized rods and all I can say is WOW! Great value for money but also just a quality reel all the way around. Their customer service is also fantastic.

Great reel at any price!
This is a very nice reel for any price. I bought a 4w for a high end rod. You cannot tell it’s not also high end. It’s very smooth and the drag system is strong. I will be buying one for my 6w soon. Very impressed.

Incredible quality drag system
It arrived a day later than it was supposed to so I didn’t get to use it on my trip but the quality seems second to none.

I must be one of the lucky ones.
First off, the reel feels really solid. Mine had no play at all. It free spins smoothly as well. I purchased the reel before reading all of the bad reviews first. It's dumb, I know, but I needed a cheap fix and this reel fit the bill. The first thing I checked was the reel seat. On mine, the screws went all the way through and weren't stripped; it's solid. The second thing I tested was the drag. I've read that it goes from free spool to 100% drag in three clicks. Not the case for me. The drag is very gradual and smooth. I bought the 5/6wt version for panfish and smaller bass. I wanted to test it out, but the closest water to me was saltwater, so I tied on a chartreuse/white deceiver and made some casts against the grass from the shore. On my third cast, I hooked into a 23-inch or so redfish. With a 6lb leader, I couldn't really muscle it in, so the drag got a good workout. It never seized up or got inconsistent. After about five minutes, I got cut off when the fish went under a dock. I feel 100% confident that this reel will hold up to anything I'll be using it for. Final note: a lot of the bad reviews I've read seem to be from years ago, so maybe they ironed out the kinks by now. I'm a happy customer.
