best book ever
I Began learning Physics just 3 weeks ago with this book and have gone though 4 chapters already. It is because This book is written well and is easy to understand, its so good that it is hard to put down. I originally got this book from the library but then bought it for around 10 bucks from Amazon. Its worth much more. its good to have a prior knowledge of Algebra and triq before attempting to solve the many problems in this book. I am doing 2 summer physics classes and feel confident this book has given me the tools to pass the classes.

Good review of physics
I used an older copy of this book that I borrowed from a local library in order to review my long-forgotten basics in physics. I decided to obtain this newest version and have found it useful. The fundamentals are clearly illustrated and there are plenty of review questions that also have the answers in the back of the book. One review did state that occasionally a review question is incorrect and I have found 1 so far, so be aware that you might encounter a mistake in the review answers. The mistake I found was obvious thanks to my proper use of a calculator.

Why This Book MIGHT Be "5 Star" PERFECT for YOU
I own a much earlier version of this book, which I have held for years and am only now reading. I also own many other physics and math books, most of which are way over my head, at least for now.I think all my physics books are good. But the better question is: Why and When and, maybe, For Whom? This is a FANTASTIC book for giving a broad overview of everyday physics with a plethora of amazing and enlightening explanations about the world around you. This book -- unlike most physics books for non math geniuses -- can be read at many different levels, for many different purposes, to suit many different needs:(1) You can browse it, cover to cover, a little bit each day, and discover hundreds of "magical" things about the world you live in, every day, but never really realized just how amazing, yet comprehensible, these things are. And this is very motivating!(2) You can use this book to learn just enough about how many "miracles" coexist in your world, and just how they work, so that you can also amaze, enlighten, and motivate your friends.(3) You can share many of these wonders with children via dozens of small experiments you can stage and conduct with everyday objects. And, therein, you can potentially change and enlarge the scope of that child's future -- including your relationship!(4) Presuming you started with #1 and have now high-level browsed the whole book, but not worked through any of the algebra-level math, you can now start over and begin to educate yourself on how to prove the various "miracles" and tie them together into a comprehensive, basic competence in everyday physics. Why? Well ...(5) This book doesn't just explain the many miracles of how the world works, it also happens to be perfect for anyone who likes to dig deeper, into a little bit of math, but wants to do that in small, easily mastered, chunks, a little bit at a time. It is really wonderful as an example of "programmed learning" -- for those who can't, or don't want to, just stare-down a huge, intimidating, textbook on physics, and try to eat it all in one bite.(6) This book, because of the way it explains everyday physics, serves as an excellent introduction to higher level, much more mathematically rigorous, college level physics. Once you get through this book, especially having worked through the many small-chunk problems with remarkable ease on your second pass, you should be primed and ready to go on to a calculus-based physics class. Or an engineering degree. Or ... well ... the sky's the limit and mostly up to you. "The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step."I wanted to thank the author, Robert Lehrman, for opened up my future with this particular book on physics. As I said at the beginning, I own dozens of physics and more advanced math books. But I've been looking at them, intimidated, and mostly putting off getting started. I took some physics and other math a long time ago in a country far, far away. But I've forgotten a lot, and never learned many of the practical examples presented in this particular book. But this book is extraordinarily approachable. It is approachable for many different types of people, with different goals, and motivations. This *could* be described as a high school or non-science-major physics textbook. But the engaging way it presents the material, in small, easily digestible, and very enjoyable bites, makes it a bit of a marvel for me (having seen more than my share of dull textbooks). And I am grateful for what this book has given me.

Gift idea
It's what my husband wanted for Christmas. Came in great shape, and I know he will love it when he opens it up on Christmas morning.
