Initial review: pretty good. Only one gripe.
Initial review for the 5-port 2.5gbps with POE. Just finished installation.General Comments:- Typical fanless design with ventilation ports on the sides.- I wall mounted it with the ventilation ports on oriented to the bottom and top to facilitate convective airflow. The good:- Sturdy metal case.- Only warm after about 30 minutes of on-time.- Passes VLAN packets which is a key requirement. The bad:- Wall mounting cutouts under the unit are very shallow and will only accept screws with a very thin head. I had to file a screw head a lot and then pry the cutout on the switch to get a screw to fit. Its especially problematic for mounting the switch with the sides facing up-and-down.

Great transfer rates.
This review is for both the 5 and 8 port versions of this switch. I purchased both.1st things 1st... the documentation is in error with the indicator lights. The right one indicates 10/100M operation, that is fine. The left light indicates 1G/2.5Ge operation. The included documentation states green is 2.5Gbe & yellow is 1Gbe, that is opposite of the way it operates. YELLOW=2.5Gbe and GREEN=1Gbe. This frustrated me for a bit until I tested my throughput.2nd; This will work w/ Cat5E for short runs. I have 2 runs that are about 40ft and they instantly came up as 2.5Gbe, and 2 more that are about 60-70ft that will only connect at 1Gbe. I do partially blame this on the NIC since connecting the 5 port to the 8 port switch through one of the longer runs comes up as 2.5Gbe, so 2 servers are combined on the 5 port switch and then run down the the 8 port.3; The transfer speeds fantastic. File transfers between the workstation and all 3 servers are from 2.3-2.4Gbe. Interestingly, internet speed tests via my ASUS ROG router and 1Gbe fiber internet service, have also increased a bit as well. It's not like having 10/40Gbe fiber run through the house but these are quite nice and worth the price.

It just plain works
No special features. No tweaking. No drivers. It worked out of the box, it is quiet, and it doesn't fail. That is exactly what I want in a network switch. In my configuration, the 10G port is connected to a 5G port on the ISP Router, and it auto-configured down to 5G perfectly.

Great 2.5gbps Switch for the Money
I bought two for my home network to replace gigabit switches. They have been working great so far and have a small footprint. Management UI is pretty simple to navigate and make changes with. Does not have a problem with running hot. It would have been nice if they had come with rubber feet on bottom so they didn't lay completely flat, but I added my own. Not a brand that I have ever heard of so I was a bit skeptical, but so far has not disappointed.

This switch drops computer connections like a hailstorm drops ice
The Good: The MokerLink 5 Port 2.5G Ethernet Switch comes nicely packaged, it looks slick, it's got a nice weight to it, it's metal, and it just overall gives an outward appearance of being a very solid device. Also, as soon I plugged in my router and a couple of other devices, everything connected perfectly without any configurations or fiddling being needed -- exactly what one wants from an unmanaged switch, it's all easy and plug-and-play.The Mediocre: Speeds didn't really improve very much compared to my previous plain ol' 1G switch. In fact, speed tests were very up-and-down, with both Internet throughput speeds and local-device read/write speeds often only being marginally better, and sometimes even noticeably worse, with the MokerLink 5 Port 2.5G vs. my previous 1G switch. Plus some tests showed some indications that the connection might be slightly less reliable. However, overall it seemed like the speeds were mostly at least a little bit better in most scenarios, and it was working well-enough, so at first I decided to keep it — but then things quickly started getting much worse. The Bad: After using the device for less than 6 hours, my entire network started falling apart. Any device connected to this switch started lagging, juttering, buffering, freezing, and/or dropping connections to the Internet and/or dropping connections to other local devices as well. I rebooted everything multiple times, I checked cable connections, I switched out cables, I did all the usual troubleshooting steps... And after every tweak, things would be okay again for a few minutes, sometimes an hour -- but then everything would start dropping out again. Over the rest of the day connections started dropping faster and faster after every reboot. Especially if more than one device was active at a time, or if there was anything more than lowest-level traffic being used (e.g., if I tried streaming a movie, within 20 minutes or less I was sure to lose the connection, even with a good cache in place; my Zoom calls for work and FaceTime calls with family started frequently freezing; and eventually even just looking at this switch sideways made it drop all connections). Also of Note: Just a minor annoyance, but the instructions say that 2.5G connections will show up on the switch with 2 green lights, while 1G connections will show an orange light on the left of the plug and a green light on the right. However, the reality is the opposite: 1G connections show two greens and 2.5G connections show an orange and a green. Given that this is one of the only helpful clues the instructions give you about how to use the device, it's probably a bad sign that the writer of the instructions got it backwards.I'm surprised this switch has gotten so many good reviews. However, I noticed that there are a handful of reviewers that reported very similar connection-drop issues to what I experienced, as well as at least one other reviewer that noticed the flip-flopped lighting instructions...I wonder if there's a quality control issue and some of us have just been unlucky with getting failing devices. However, even with the slightly more expensive and bigger brand-name 2.5G switches there seems to be an overall pattern of complaints about a lot of 2.5G switches eventually growing increasingly unreliable over time, so maybe there are some additional underlying problems with this tech in general as well, or some shared components that are prone to failure. It's rather wild how much more 2.5G switches cost compared to 1G switches -- you'd think you'd at least get more bang for your buck, instead of only an expensive metal box full of failure.Additional context: I've been happily using a cheap (relatively speaking) Netgear 5-Port Gigabit Ethernet Unmanaged Switch for years, and I've never had any trouble with it since initially plugging it in -- no muss, no fuss. I'm going to switch back to that for now. The next time I try a 2.5G switch, I'll probably go ahead and pay for a decent name-brand like Netgear again -- however, given the reviews for even their 2.5G aren't amazing, maybe it'd be better to wait for the next generation of these devices to come along, and hope they're more reliable (and hopefully cheaper too; but I'd be less reticent about spending the money on the bigger brands if there were more consistent reports of longterm reliability for any of the consumer-facing 2.5G switches).Anyway, I'd be very hesitant to try any MokerLink products again, regrettably -- it looked like such a nicely built device, it's a shame the unit I bought didn't work out.

Performs well at a great price
When looking at the specs of this switch, they seem VERY similar to the Aumox 5 port 78W PoE switch. After getting receiving this switch and putting it through some tests, the similarities continue. However, I wouldn't say that's a bad thing; I had lots of good things to say about that switch, and they all apply here. The performance is very good. Doing a simple local speed test shows a fully saturated gigabit link, and the specs show that there is enough raw switching capacity to sustain these speeds when fully loaded. The boot process is surprisingly fast as well. Power-wise, I love the integrated power supply. It does make the form factor a little bigger, but in return, you get a much cleaner package. No external bricks here! All in all, I'm happy with this purchase. While it's not as fully featured as a managed switch, the features it does come with are unbeatable for the price.

Works great
This switch works great. I have some 100 Mbps links installed and it uplinks to my core 10 GbE switch at 2.5 Gbps. The price is great. What’s not to like.

Super solid for the price
I recently upgraded my fiber Internet connection to 3Gbps and needed something that could drive that to my wired devices as the ISP's router only includes gigabit ports (and a single 10Gbps uplink port). This switch does a great job. It can reach full 2.5Gbps throughput, has never so much as blinked in months of service and despite being passively cooled, only gets slightly warm, even when there is a large load going through multiple ports. For the price, getting metal construction is also a nice bonus. If you can't afford 10Gbps grear and want a good middle ground, this is great value for money.
