water timer Review: We love this device, set up programming to water our garden daily and it worked great! Garden is thriving. Review: Easy to set up, easy to use, the batteries you put in last a long time (6+ months at least), and it seals tightly to your spigot. After having one for around a year, I just bought a second so that I can control watering my plants and the yard separately. It's programmed via the SmartLife app, but I like that it has a button on it to manually trigger it too--it just uses the current programmed duration. I set the schedule through the Google Home app, though the integration is pretty light. I have a routine that triggers it to start on particular days, but there doesn't seem to be a use to building in a time delay and then triggering it to stop--it always just runs for the current programmed duration, as if I'd hit the button on it. This is good enough for me. If I want to stop it midway (realizing it's raining, or I haven't put the sprinklers back after mowing), I do it from the SmartLife app, I don't trust it to actually get stopped from the Google Home app. I don't fault the actual product for this. It's definitely a tad bulky depth-wise, but if your spigot's really close to the wall, you can just turn it so it's sideways.

I have been using hose timers for years. It saves me the trouble of remembering to water my garden and flowers every day. Unfortunately, my old battery powered timer - probably 20 years old - reached the end of its life. So I started to hunt for new timers. I have found this RAINPOINT timer to be absolutely terrific. So good, that I purchased two more. They are easily set up with a Bluetooth connection to your cell phone, and can be programmed to turn the water on mutiple times each day for any length of time. When rain is forecast, then can be told to turn off and come back on in 24, 48 or 72 hrs. Buying this product was a great balance between cost and functionality.

Works great so far. Hope it lasts a few seasons.

NOTE: This product is more useful with a wifi hub (make sure you get the right wifi hub as it will not work with the Smart+ system, which is what I have). It will still function with Bluetooth, but once I get far which is when I get into the house, the unit is not connected to the app. May not be an issue if you are just interested in plug and forget. The unit works as described and does the job of watering on a timed basis. I set the timer in the app for every day for 10 min and each day my drip irrigation system worked. You need to download a separate app for this system (compared to the Smart+ system, would have been nice if all of the units worked in the same app for Rainpoint). It also comes with a brass fitting on the faucet side, so it is bound to last long. Even came with teflon tape. You really have to decide which system you want to be a part of, the Rainpoint system or the Rainpoint Smart+ system. If you choose the standard Rainpoint system, then this units is a great addition to it.
