This pizza stone bakes pizza well. Yes you need to place it in the oven before starting to pre-heat the stone and the oven as well. This item also good for baking croissants and small to medium sized pastries that will fit decently on the stone. Excellent item, does what it is designed to do. The square shape is a benefit for baking pastries on the stone. Overall good item that works as designed

I'm Frankenstein-ing together a custom pizza oven. This base will work great for it.The stone is good quality and the size is what was spec'd in the product info. -although if you have the oven it is made to fit, you're not concerned with actual measurements... as long as it fits.The two-piece platform is thick and holds heat well. I have heated up our propane grill with the square on the grate. It is a bit slow, but I can cook a pizza on the grill (with a pre-baked crust) without burning the bottom.Great stone.

Cracked quickly after 2 uses. Summertime so cold was not an issue.

Came well packaged in in one piece. Have not bee able to used yet since our pizza oven still has not arrived.
