In truth, they probably won't ever soften to your liken, but that is the nature of percale weave sheets. These are the kind of sheets that were prevalent back in the day… They have a natural tendency to remain cool to the touch even through warm weather, which is why some people like them so much -- myself included. They are also known to have a crispness to their feel which is another feature some people like and for them to soften would suggest they truly are not percale, or even 100% cotton. Cotton by its very nature always wrinkles because it is cotton. That is, unless they are not 100% and contain some blend, such as polyester. Or they have been heavily treated in some way via chemical washes or treatments. As for the wrinkles, well. . . There once was a world a long long long time ago, far far far away, where the female members of the species of various tribes would slide and roll very highly heated and hardened iron contraptions over them. They would do this for hours and hours and always on what we would call Monday, and only on Mondays. This ritual was performed with the devout intent of smoothing out those pesky wrinkles. Not like us humans, who can't be bothered with ironing our own shirts anymore. :) In the future, I would recommend staying away from percale weaves if you didn't like these features. Also, stay away from any sellers who claim that the sheets are %100 cotton, percale sheets, and yet are supposedly incredibly soft. Those factors do not belong together, so either they are lying about something or they are not really one or more of their claims. Such claims are akin to claiming that hot is cold and always at the exact same moment in time. You might like something with a sateen weave better, or even a %100 cotton, but not in a percale weave. There are many more choices along those lines than percale.
