The very definition of 'okay'
This headset is okay, nothing more, nothing less.It doesn't have awful sound quality, it's far from any form of monitor, over the ear or in the ear, it has an uneven sound curve with slightly boosted bass, heavily boosted high end and slightly muted midtones meaning your music is apt to get a slightly muffled sound if the vocals are on the lower end of female or the average end of male, it's not an ideal music listening experience. However, for gaming, it's pretty good, you get thudding gunfire, deep rumblings of music and action, and sharp sounds like distant gunfire and footsteps are all very well highlighted. The mic quality is not great and may be its worst or second worst trait, the other being build quality but more on that later. Any vocalizations make are a bit scratchy sounding and distant, with the mic up or down, having the mic up only slightly impacts the quality and volume, probably owing to the boom being about 3 inches long, so it doesn't really get a lot closer to your mouth. There is no noise cancelling at all so expect any and all background noise in your room to be picked up. The mute switch on the cable works great.Speaking of the cable, the volume slider is a weird one, it has a pretty uneven curve being mostly weighted on the high volume side and very suddenly dropping a lot, there's also a detent on the max volume meaning that it clicks into place and stays there. Handy if you use system settings to maintain your ideal volume but a bit weird if you like some wiggle room. The build quality of the headset is cheap being all plastic and cloth. As an upside, the headband is a flexible plastic and I don't feel like it will be in danger of breaking unless sorely mistreated. The cups of the headphones are also all plastic and made of a much more rigid stuff. The ear padding is a stretchy textured material that is rougher than you might want but so far hasn't been uncomfortable, though, the cups themselves are on the smaller side compared to my preferences, but I like BIG ear cups. The worst aspect of the build is that the ear pieces aren't adjustable up and down with a slider, there's 3 notches on each side you pop the cups out of and pop them back into get your comfort level, so basically it fits 3 head sizes, wee, not so wee and, well, you know the rest. You can mix and match them but then it feels uneven on your head so I guess it's down to the luck of the draw regarding the size of your cranium. This isn't a bad headset at all, but it isn't great. I know you can do better in the price range, though you exchange durability for audio quality in many of those cases. I personally would bump my budget up another 20 or so and try and get something a little better, however, I can't say I don't recommend these headphones, I'm just very middling on them. They give good gaming quality but they have such a poor mic I don't think they're ideal for multiplayer, for example, I think the mic built into the PS5 controller might actually be better to use with these headphones than their built in mic. You can also so much worse, so I guess consider this a soft recommend. Given more control over my rating I would give these 3.75/5 stars.

Decent headset
I am reviewing the gaming headset. I initially purchased it for listening to music. It came in a big box with all the items needed. No installation needed. It has a pointy end and it will only go with my computer since mobile phones do not have a pointy end port anymore. In terms of the quality it is pretty good, it's decently heavy and big. The air pad covers almost all your ear so it is decently noiseless. The bass is just okay and there are some muffledness if you are trying to talk. But it does look pretty nice. For the price it's a decent quality headset. And comfortable to wear.

Comfy, good sound, short cord
I compare most headphones to my (now 8 year old) Rig 505 Lava's, which are supremely comfortable, one of the most comfortable set of over the ear headphones that I've ever had. These are not quite as good as the old 505s, but still really good. The fit on the Rig 300 Pro HS is similar, but not quite as good. They fit more snugly, which to my ears is a bit less desirable. However, I wear glasses and don't find them to be uncomfortable. Though if you have a larger head you may find these to be a bit tight. In terms of sound, the 300s are tilted towards the bass. Compared to the 505s, they are weaker in the mids and highs. The upper range sounds a bit muddled, and the clarity isn't as good, despite both being 40mm. On the whole though, the sound is really good. You might miss some details listening to high fidelity music but these are totally fine for video games. The head band translates quite a bit of sound through - considerably more than the Rig 505s (both of which have foam to dampen the sound). You'll notice every bump on the headband.Although the 300s weigh 8% more than the Rig 505s, they are still very light at 228g.The on-cord volume control works very well. It's a smooth, scratch free adjustment from zero to maximum volume. The mic mute switch is on the cord as well. Though it's nice to have a physical switch to kill the mic, it's not as elegant as the Rig 505 (and most other current Rig models), which put the mute switch in the mic boom itself, so the mic mutes when you fold it up. With these, you can fold up the mic without muting it, which doesn't make a lot of sense. The mic is also not detachable. The only real complaint I have is the cord length. At about four feet, it's a bit shorter than I'd like. Though fine for plugging in to your playstation controller or phone, but you might find it a little short if you're plugging into a laptop or desktop computer.Aside from the short cord and snug fit, these are a great set of headphones.

High-value gaming headset that also looks cool
For my gaming kids, the most important thing about their games headsets is clear audio. The second most important thing is how comfortable it is to wear for several hours of continuous play. The third most important thing is how cool it looks on video to other kids. This RIG 300 PRO HS Gaming Headset scored high on all these three things, and it is significantly lower cost than others with similarly high ratings.

Pretty mediocre
This headset is pretty mediocre - if you want a cheap headset it should work fine but there are a lot of grievances. First, the audio quality is very muted, and the audio adjuster is a poorly designed slider that gets stuck frequently. The cable is short and the microphone quality is ok but definitely has issues. The only thing saving this headset from a worse review is that it is actually pretty comfortable which is nice. I would personally recommend going up a tier but if this is your budget then it should suffice but won’t do anything more.
