Thomson Streaming Box 240UK, 4K UHD, Google TV, Google Voice Control,Wifi, Googlecast built-in

I had the Xiaomi MiBox S Gen 1, so I decided to upgrade to Xiaomi MiBox S Gen3, but the device was a total let down. Remote control is unresponsive, you need to click multiple times, the bluetooth headset is pairing but unable to play any sound, colors were awful, performance was very slow. I returned the device and got the Thomson 240UK, the difference is huge! This is what a streaming box should be. Remote control is very responsive and premium, performance is amazing, working great out of the box, HDMI quality is amazing, you have more ports and you have the Audio Optical port to connect your sound bar directly. I am extremely happy with Thomson and very disappointed with Xiaomi.

Pros Seems a quality built box Nice remote the works on Bluetooth meaning the box can live out of site Cons Only 4gb of memory. After installing iPlayer, ITV etc it said out of memory. Most boxes are 32 or 64gb. The box did an update and the two USB sockets stopped working. No micro SD card slot

I received the product, it had no hdmi cable of its own, and was not even working, just no signal,I tried old sticks and devices I have and they worked fine on the same tv

I bought it to stream my pc through moon light it didn't work and the optical port is not working returning back

Not much as expected and also not having much exaggerated functionalities as others gave reviews.. One major issue found that, YouTube application will not work if you cast YouTube from your the mobile phone. There will be a black screen if you open the YouTube app after the casting disconnect. I had to reset (factory reset) the device to boot up the built in YouTube app.

After just over month of using continually turns it self on and off at random times. Looked good intially, but along with above also controller disconnects alot. Ive just missed the return window as would definitely send back.

Thomson 240: So far I'm very happy with my TV box. The installation was painless. Works great with my Philips Ambilight 58" (2021) TV. The remote control has a lovely weight to it and to my positive surprise the buttons are backlit. The remote control is also "multi-device" so I've put away my Philips control and run everything with the Thomson remote. One less problem! Very good.

I have an old non-smart TV and I wanted to stream Netflix, Disney+, Youtube etc. I was affraid to buy cheaper brands (or no-names) because I read that many of those are very slow (old/cheap hardware) and they may also have built-in malware/spyware. Thomson TV box is on the white list of Google TV, and also at a good price, so you cannot go wrong with this. It works perfect.

Looks good, easy to set up , , connected up straight away to the wifi, can also be eternet connected. All apps are available for this as well. You are not limited to what Amazon want you to download only. Compared to a Firestick , this thing is like lightning speed. The remote actually feels like its got a bit of quality about it and did not fall out of a christmas cracker like the fire stick one. Shows what can be done when Amazon Prime are not trying to take over your life and the things you own.

Ich habe die Thomson Streaming-Box 240 gekauft. Ich habe etwas lange recherchiert (über Internetsuche und auch die Amazon-Rezensionen gelesen). Ich habe nicht so große Ansprüche. Wenn das Gerät Google TV, Chromecast-Dienste, YouTube, ARD, ZDF, Podcasts und Ähnliches in 720p oder 1080p abspielen kann, bin ich ziemlich glücklich. Ich brauche nicht unbedingt 4K oder 60fps – ich brauche nur Stabilität. Und das Gerät bietet genau das. Es funktioniert 1A für das, was ich brauche. Ich benutze WLAN als Verbindung, und ich habe das Backup-Handy (ein Android von 2021) verwendet, um es zu konfigurieren. Zudem lassen sich Geräte auch via Bluetooth verbinden. Das ist super für Podcasts und Co., wenn man zu Hause etwas organisiert. Das heißt, ich bin weniger auf mein Handy oder meinen Computer angewiesen, um multimediale Inhalte zu genießen. Praktisch reichen die Streaming-Box, ein Monitor und ein Bluetooth-Lautsprecher aus, um einiges zu erleben. Außerdem kann man andere Apps installieren, wie zum Beispiel File Explorer (ich vertraue X-plore schon ewig). Man muss aber aufpassen, denn das System hat „nur“ 8 GB Speicher (die 2 GB Arbeitsspeicher sind mehr als ausreichend, sofern die Apps nicht Schrott sind). Das heißt, man kann nicht jede Menge Apps installieren, und die Apps nutzen den lokalen Cache. Hier könnten USB-Speicher helfen, aber ich muss sie noch testen. Insgesamt bin ich sehr zufrieden und hoffe, dass das Gerät mehrere Jahre zuverlässig funktioniert.
