Focal RIP165S3 S3 6.5 Inch

Just going from coaxial to component speakers is already a huge upgrade. I tested the Focals on the driver side vs the Kenwoods on the passenger side in my 2001 Ford F-150 XL single cab truck. Setup is a Sony MEX-GS820BT high power headunit (still isn't enough power for these speakers), Sony Xplod XM-1252GTR amplifier (bridged powering subwoofer) and a 12" JL Audio W0v3 subwoofer. The Focals offer a way wider sound stage, more bass, crisper tweeters and a more airy/lifelike midrange compared to the Kenwoods which have a more focused, close together sound. The Focal tweeters are not ear piercingly bright but do offer sparkling highs. Midrange is full and present. Woofers do offer decent bass. The physical difference in height from the Focals being in the dash vs the Kenwoods in the door is pretty dramatic. I now get a front row concert sound. Should be even better once I put some real power to them. Now are you going to be blown away by these Focal speakers? Well that depends on how crummy your current speakers are. To me for $100 you can't beat them especially since the tweeter/midrange come in their own pods. PROS: Great sound for entry level upgrade. Plenty of speaker wire is included (way to much for my application). CONS: The tweeter/midrange have no mounting holes (I'm just using glue dots to hold them in place). Crossovers are a bit cheap in build quality but do have mounting holes. 2 included grilles are kinda flimsy but do the job but I won't be using them.

This company may or may not be a branch of Focal, but the bottom line is that THESE ARE NOT FOCAL SPEAKERS

Even though one reviewer these aren't Focal because they are made in China not in Italy. Only the really high-end speakers are made in Italy. These speakers are definitely Focals.

Focal is not made China . that are made in France. I should have. Known better at 139 dollars .don't waste your money When you get them now ware on them do that say focal or the box

Where do I start.being that it is focal I figured I would give it a shot.......sound ok at best with Polk audio amp 70 watts RMS.Tweeters and mid pod is junk!!!!! Mid woofer sounds good and get good bass from it for a 6.5 speaker.... Infinity Kappa's I took out sounded better and there coaxial speakers.if you don't want loud clear,clean,crisp sounds then buy these.Been Doing this 30+ years and believe me when I say there are cheaper sets that sound better.

For entry level these speakers r have good sound quality alit better than factory
