Have to admit that I like the humor to be found in some reviews! 'Do you really need THIS much?' Less expensive than the grocery store (prime eligible) with a great shelf life. I married a Yankee who knew nothing about Southern foods: "What's a grit?" These are single serving packs offer a terrific way for those who want that 'just one serving.' Flavor and texture? I would have to disagree that they aren't as good as the 45 min. cook time ones that my mother prepared . . . that or I've forgotten! Versatile and simple to prepare (hot water or microwave). There are too many ways to enjoy this staple . . . have a favorite mashed potato recipe? Substitute grits and let your imagination offer even more suggestions. Not just a nutritional breakfast food but a healthy choice just about any time. Add cheese + , allow to cool and you have a sandwich spread. If you like peanut butter, add a tablespoon. Enjoy sweets? Add chocolate/cinnamon/brown sugar/golden raisins/ apple bits/ banana/blue berries/ strawberries . . . prepare as directed, add your personal favorite . . . enjoy hot or cold. Easy to digest corn, not flower. These grits hold their own with any grits we've ever had. And unlike the other grits, these are the easiest thing in the world to make. Add the contents and water in a bowl, microwave for one minute, and just like magic.... Perfect tasty grits EVERY SINGLE TIME.These grits are the perfect consistency, and they're perfectly flavored. They can be used in so many recipes. They're perfect for Grits and Shrimp, because the flavor compliments that recipe. They make a nice substitute for potatoes or a pasta side.I could write a lenghty review of this product, but instead of reading review after review, I suggest you give these a try. You won't be disappointed in the quality, the taste, or the price.

Grits are vastly underrated, in my opinion. These instant grits are just as convenient as instant oatmeal packs, and infinitely tastier. Because they are so underrated, though, it is very hard to find the instant version in stores! I live in a big city, but most big box stores here don't carry them or are always out (and they are always on the top shelf out of reach). But thankfully Amazon has a great price. I love these to take to work and just pour in hot water.I strongly recommend that you stick with the Original flavor. The other flavors (Butter, Bacon, etc.) taste very artificial. Best to stick with the original and sprinkle a little shredded cheese on top. Better yet, if you're home, fry up a little bacon and an egg and put on top of these grits. Not healthy, but very yummy and filling.

Although I grew up in the Northwestern United States, my parents were both born and raised in the Carolinas, so grits were as much a staple as potatoes are to the Irish.Unlike the grits I grew up on these are quick and easy to cook, but they taste just as good as the original product my mother used to make over 6 decades ago.I am not a big fan of flavored grits, but I provide my own flavors with eggs, bacon, hot sauce and sometimes cheese. When I was a child everyone just cut up there over easy eggs and bacon or sausage on top of their buttered grits, mix them up and feast on that breakfast wiping the plate clean with our toast.Now days cheese and scrimp or scallops added to grits are popular in restaurants that I enjoy; however, I enjoy grits the way we ate them for our hardy breakfast.I recommend this product to family, friends, and others who enjoy this good old Southern staple.Enjoy!

First and foremost, if you enjoy grits this is a very affordable way to procure them, especially if you live in an area where they aren't part of the regional cuisine and are thus either impossible to find or are overpriced at the grocery store.The main advantage of these grits is convenience. You can have a meal ready in minutes, and they're very versatile in terms of add ins.The disadvantages are numerous. First, one pack of grits isn't enough to make a meal. I'm a fairly small person and I need two packs of grits to even begin to make a meal, and I'm still hungry soon after. Larger people might even need three packs of grits or a lot of add ins in order to stay satisfied until their next meal. So twelve boxes of twelve packs does not equal 144 meals. Still, at this price that isn't a deal breaker!The next issue with these grits is that they're fairly nutritionally devoid, as you'd expect from a processed corn product.The final problem worth mentioning is that twelve boxes takes a lot more space than you'd realize to store. A tip here- buy a plastic box with a tight seal and empty the boxes into it. You'll have a bug free storage solution that takes up a lot less space- something to keep in mind if you have a small pantry.If you know what you're getting into and eat a lot of grits then this is a fantastic deal. I'd be more than willing to pay a little more for an organic non GMO less processed version of this, but oh well. For convenience and value this is a recommended buy.
