The Official Clapper Plus Sound Activated On/Off Switch, 1 Each

I have enjoyed having a clapper for many years. Our original one finally started acting up. Our new one is working well. Our remote control does not work, so if that is important to you - beware. I do not care about having a remote - all I have to do is clap!

I purchased a couple of these for my Mother, who is disabled and has a difficult time getting around. The nights, for her, are the worst and geting up to shut lights off, especially when tired, was a real strain.This product, and the original Clapper (which I also purchased) were just the perfect solution. This particuliar one (the Clapper Plus) comes with the addition of a remote, so if you don't want to be smacking hands late at night (maybe waking someone), then you can use the remote to control the light function.They really do work well, they do what they say they do and the price (on Amazon) is great! I am disappointed with the product. Switch II works fine but Switch III doesn't work properly. As a matter of fact, I suspect that it broke my CD player because there was a spark that occurred in the Clapper when I first used Switch III. Upon a closer look at the product, I noticed that the logo UL was nowhere to be seen. (UL is an independent safety science company. UL, or Underwriters Laboratories, has been certifying products for safety since the late 1800's. See [...]) Therefore, I am assuming that the product was not tested for safety by an independent company. I've been ordering products from Amazon for years and this is the first time I am disappointed with an order.

I'm really into gadgets, I love to add cool options in my house, and this Clapper Plus was especially appealing to me. I already had tried the basic Clapper, but this one had the remote option that was very attractive. In fact, the clapping works great and remote too, but since I bought it for the remote option, I would have appreciate to turn OFF the clapping option. In fact, there is no way to completely turn OFF the clapping function. This gets annoying because I connected some lights and a plasma ball on the two outlets, and they sometime turn ON without any request. Wether setting is on HIGH or LOW, it will turn them ON without request by time to time. If you are intending to buy this item for the remote option, there are others gadgets around that can remotely control different outlets (up to 5), and you don't have the downside of seeing plugged-in appliances activated by random sounds in your house.If you have a very quiet room, and that remote and clapping are necessary, this item might be a perfect buy for you.But if you are installing this item in a room with random noises, and you expect to use the remote function, then look for other options as an Home Indoor Wireless Remote Control Power Outlet Plug.

After reading the reviews on here about the Clapper and Clapper Plus being a fire hazard, I was definitely concerned. However, I figured I planned on using it just for a lamp, not any high-end, high-voltage devices, so I went for it. I am certainly glad I did. The Clapper Plus does everything it advertises. You cannot beat the wireless remote. We had an original Clapper a while back. When my wife and I would go to bed, one of us would stay up reading longer than the other. Then to turn the light off, you had to clap (fairly loudly) to turn the lights off. This woke the other one up several times. With the Clapper Plus, we simply click (and I say click, but the remote makes NO noise at all) the button and lights are out. WE LOVE OUR Clapper Plus!!!As always, Amazon did a great job of packaging and delivering the product with no problems at all.

This works either as a regular Clapper (you know, "clap on, clap off") or as a remote control switch. So, you can turn on up to two lights or appliances by pressing one of the two buttons on the remote control. It's a fairly sophisticated device, hence the hefty price tag. It has adjustable sensitivity if used as a clapper, and even has a vacation feature where it will turn on a light if a noise triggers it. The unit plugs into the wall outlet and up to two lamps or appliances plug into the unit. This is perfect for my older mom, so she does not need to lean out of the bed to shut her bedside lamp after reading. The remote works even with the unit BEHIND the bed - I worried at first that the signal would not reach the unit but there was no problem. It is easy to use and the directions better than most.

My clapper arrived on Wednesday and I am now using it with great success. Clapping is very effective...it does not fail me. Also, I have used the remote which is on my nightstand and it works perfectly too. My puppy, a tiny chihuaha, sleeps in my bed and clapping sometimes awakens him. So, when he is napping, I use the remote. I haven't used the second receptacle for an additional electrical item; so I am unable to comment at this time about how that will work. I highly recommend the clapper for those of us who are having knee surgery and preparing our homes for the rehab period.....or for anyone needing to turn electrical items on/off without getting up to do so.
